Had some fair form over hurdles and has shown some ability so far over fences although he was slightly disappointing last time here over 2m4f. That trip looked a little too short for him and this 3m trip now is sure to suit better and he's worth another chance here.

A winner of a weak novice hurdle on heavy here in 2016 he wasn't done any favours by the handicapper after that win and quickly switched to fences after a break. Ran well after another break last time over C&D when second to a course specialist; may need a little help from the handicapper.

Yet to win over fences but easy to argue that he has the ability to do so and finished a good second over 2m4f here last time out on similar going. He should cope with this trip but does appear to lose concentration in his races; finished second to an improver last time and hard to ignore.

Completed a quick-fire hurdles/chase hat-trick in November/December when the yard was in good form. Now 7lb higher than his last win and over a longer trip than he tried in those (will handle the ground) although the stable aren't in the same form now.

Forecasts

Shanroe Street (7/4), Buffalo Ballet (11/4), Knocknamona (3/1), Strong Economy (9/2)

Verdict

It would be quite easy to give all four a chance here and this quartet form an intriguing race. There is no doubt that Knocknamona is improving but the Hammond yard are not in the same form now as when he completed his hat-trick and that might tip the balance in the direction of the others. Buffalo Ballet should be able to win over fences but his concentration appears to slip during races and the leaders can get away from him. Shanroe Street is another who you can make a case for but his mark looks a little high and STRONG ECONOMY might be able to win this given a chance over 3m for the first time over fences around a course that he acts well around.
  1. Strong Economy
  2. Buffalo Ballet
  3. Shanroe Street
