Has had some issues since winning at Warwick (3m, soft) in February 2016 and raced infrequently since. Showed some promise here over longer trip in Sussex National last time and on potentially useful mark if able to build on that now.

Mare potentially would have found 2m4f around Wincanton too sharp on chase debut last month, trainer/jockey both enjoying good run lately and improved showing a distinct possibility over longer trip in a handicap.

Has won over hurdles off a mark of 123 in the past. Penultimate run in that sphere suggested that he still has something to offer, wasn't helped by a slow pace over 2m6f since; back to 3m+ may well see him offer a little more on chase return.

Likes this track, rubberstamping that notion with pair of C&D wins last month. Ran well in third behind easy Sussex National winner 22 days ago when going for the hat-trick and is 5lb better off now. Likely to go close.

Once looked promising for Paul Nicholls but just 1-12 over fences for this stable and more poor efforts in there than good ones. Others preferred on form.

Winning point-to-pointer, improving in three starts since going chasing. Comfortable scorer over this sort of trip at Hereford recently and no surprise if proving up to this task in follow-up attempt.

Forecasts

Leo Luna (9/4), Clondaw Rigger (11/4), Act Now (4/1), Frank N Fair (9/2), Invicta Lake (9/1), Howlongisafoot (14/1)

Verdict

CLONDAW RIGGER is progressing nicely over fences and opened his account at the third time of asking in ready fashion last time at Hereford. He looks capable of going up the ladder another few rungs yet and so is taken to follow up here. Any flaws will be exposed by Frank N Fair, something of a C&D specialist with two wins last month. He was anything but disgraced since in the Sussex National over a longer trip and looks sure to give another solid account now. Leo Luna also shaped well in that marathon National test, and is capable of having a say over this more conventional trip.
  1. Clondaw Rigger
  2. Frank N Fair
