Knocking on the door lately over longer trips, doing so again when 2L third of 11 over 1m at Kempton on Wednesday evening. Latest win over extended mile in Wolverhampton claimer last month. Should go well.

Excellent effort over 1m here on Saturday in a race of much better quality, running keenly and fading in the final furlong. Drops in trip and grade and repeat effort may be good enough now eased 3lb.

Useful efforts over this trip at Kempton in September and 6f at Southwell in November would put him right in the mix, but subsequent outings over the same trips and tracks have been of a much less enticing calibre. Needs to bounce back dramatically.

Zoffany filly has won over this trip at Wolverhampton and was closely matched with Carp Kid over extended-mile in a claimer there last month (1½L second). Runs off the same mark now and entitled to be in there pitching when it counts.

Behind a couple of these rivals last month in Wolverhampton claimer over extended-mile, since run a much better race at Southwell over 6f however in a seller. Others still make stronger appeal.

Home-bred daughter of Equiano out of a mare who won four times on the AW at up to an extended 1m1f. Tailed off over 7f (good) at Chepstow in July on only run for Richard Hughes. Must improve dramatically on debut for new trainer.

Forecasts

Carp Kid (9/4), Bungee Jump (5/2), Zapateado (4/1), Give Em A Clump (5/1), Kheleyf's Girl (7/1), Travellers Joy (25/1)

Verdict

CARP KID is about the safest of these based on some consistent recent efforts. He's a course winner and again showed up well over a mile at Kempton on Wednesday evening. If showing no ill-effects for this quick turnaround, he's the one they have to beat. Bungee Jump caught the eye in a stronger race here last week before fading late on and, whilst far from reliable, would have sound claims in this field at his best. The filly Zapateado is closely matched with Carp Kid on Wolverhampton and should once more be in the firing line when they hit the line.
