Record stands at 1-31 and that victory came last April. Down to that winning mark for the first time since.
Sole victory came a year ago after a similar three month break and off an identical mark. Rider does well for this yard so one to consider.
18-race maiden whose last three efforts have drawn an 8lb drop in her mark. Hard to fancy from a draw that makes things more difficult.
Opened his account at the 38th time of asking when scoring in similar grade three months ago. Made all that day and drawn to attack again in an equally poor race.
Showed some ability in weak company last spring but has gone the wrong way since. New headgear combination tried and dropped in class.
Beaten on last three starts in this grade but she did not get the best of runs last time. Gets maximum assistance from the saddle, but her overall form shows she needs to improve on her best recent achievements.
Has made the frame on all three previous attempts in this grade. Runs to a consistent level but her lack of finishing pace is borne out by a record of 1-18 and six placed efforts. Sure to be thereabouts again in a race as bad as this.
Daughter of the speedy mare Soviet Song and still learning the ropes at present. Some promise last time on second start in a handicap and a further 5lb drop in the weights makes her interesting.
Has made the frame once in 29 starts and hard to fancy even at this basement level. Regular rider on board.
Has finished last in four of his five most recent starts. Went well on the other occasion after a break, but now 27 races since last victory and 2lb wrong in the weights.
Forecasts
Deer Song (7/2), Silver Penny (4/1), Roubles (9/2), La Fortuna (11/2), Popsilca (15/2), Barnsdale (9/1), Lambrini Legacy (20/1), Regal Miss (20/1), Hurricane Alert (25/1), Give Us A Belle (33/1)
In a race that will take little winning the vote goes to POPSILCA who arrives following a similar preparation as when picking up her sole success 12 months ago. She is down to her last winning mark and she can be another winner for the profitable Berry/Quinn partnership. Roubles is lightly raced and a further drop in the weights puts this well-bred filly on an attractive mark. Silver Penny is rarely far away in this grade and another frame finish looks likely.
- Popsilca
- Roubles
