Made an immediate impact over fences when showing significant improvement on his hurdles form to win over C&D (heavy) in November. Posted another good effort in defeat by decent yardstick last time. Should give a good account under his penalty.

Won four of his first five starts in 2016 and early part of 2017 when progressive. Switched to fences this term and fell when favourite/leading at Catterick on debut last month. Beaten just a head there (3m1f, soft) last time and has claims again.

0-32 and despite a couple of recent runs into the prize money he was well beaten and his form is way below what is likely to be required in this line-up.

Rated 145 at her best over hurdles and after a dip in form she was more competitive in that sphere again last month. Pulled up on only chase start last season but worth another try and has the ability to go close if she has the technique.

Ramses De Teillee (11/8), Rons Dream (7/4), Impulsive Star (11/4), Sussex Road (200/1)

Verdict

An interesting contest despite the small field, with little to choose between three of them at these weights if they can perform to their ability and IMPULSIVE STAR gets the nod. Trip and ground are fine for Neil Mulholland's eight-year-old, who gets on well with his top amateur pilot and the fitting of cheekpieces might just be enough to nose him home ahead. Ramses De Teillee goes well here and on heavy ground, but the combination of a penalty and a quiet spell for David Pipe's runners suggest that today might be a day to take him one, while the mare Ron's Dream could have a big say if she can jump well enough on her truncated return to chasing.
