A more fluent jump at the last would probably have secured victory on his penultimate start and a mistake three out proved costly last time. Normally a sound jumper and this is not as competitive.
Won as he should have last time and that form received a timely boost when the runner-up landed a handicap at Newbury yesterday. Looks a handicap snip here if taking that effort at face vale and no obvious reason to dispute it.
This headgear combination and a change of tactics inspired an improved performance over C&D 10 days ago. Remains to be seen if the headgear has a similar effect here and he meets a better calibre of opponent.
Produced his best effort last time, but handicapper has taken few chances with his initial mark and significant improvement is needed.
Has had breathing problems in the past which may explain an inconsistent profile. Chances depend on him reproducing the kind of effort that saw him finish second here a year ago.
Failed to live up to expectations on return from a year off and possible the trip was too far after that absence. Looks well-handicapped on her Kempton victory three races ago if that is the case.
Not too many miles on the clock and has run into fairly smart performers on his last two starts. Not over-burdened on handicap debut and could have a say in an ordinary event.
Forecasts
Show On The Road (1/1), Rainy Day Dylan (4/1), Legend Lady (8/1), Lillington (9/1), Sea Wall (10/1), Acaro (10/1), The Brothers (20/1)
SHOW ON THE ROAD will take plenty of beating if the form book has this right. A 14L beating of Friday Night Light off level weights received a boost when that rival scored yesterday off a mark of 111. That makes the Hobbs' charge an attractive proposition in here off a mark of just 118. Legend Lady also looks on a fair mark, however that is taking into account form achieved two years ago and she has clearly had problems since. Acaro will find this easier than his last two runs against decent novices, but the Tizzard pair Lillington and The Brothers need to improve. Sea Wall has conditions in his favour, but is in danger once again of bumping into something that is more fairly treated. New headgear and tactics worked for Rainy Day Dylan last time, but there can be no guarantees the same will apply here.
