Made quite a promising debut on the Fibresand (first-time tongue strap on) and coped well with the drop to 5f. Not beaten far by an odds-on favourite and should be to the fore again here.

Offered little on her debut over 6f at Lingfield in a 6f maiden and makes her Fibresand debut here. Sire has a very poor record on the surface and easily passed over.

Poor maiden who did very little when she was with Ollie Pears and looks very limited. Showed very little on her debut for this yard and now makes her Fibresand debut.

Makes his Fibresand/stable debut having gone backwards from his debut when he was with Robert Cowell. Both his starts so far have come over 6f but his sire is building a good record here and he should be watched in the market.

Had two runs on turf last year over 5f showing more last time out at Nottingham than he did on his debut. Now tries this surface for the first time after a break with the sire having a decent enough record here; not without a chance.

Blinkers on for the first time as this one returns from a break having had just the one run for this yard (previously with Charlie Fellowes) and shaped quite well on that occasion over 6f on deep ground. Now tries Fibresand for the first time (sire has a modest record here) but worthy of respect given his connections.

Price tag rose markedly as a two-year-old although he's not really lived up to his €60,000 purchase price as yet. Failed to build on his debut last time out and now switched to a different AW surface for the first time; needs to show more here.

Straight onto the Fibresand for her debut from a yard not known for debut winners in this sphere. Every hope that she will act on this surface being by Haafd who has a decent record here but may well need the experience.

Has been placed three times from her five starts so far with the latest placed effort coming over C&D after having some six weeks off. Certainly settled a lot better than she had previously and the one that beat her ran with credit in a handicap next time out.

Bred to be speedy and showed/offered something to work on when starting a big price on her debut at Wolverhampton. Remains to be seen how she acts on this surface with the sire Canford Cliffs 1/16 on it so far with his progeny.

Only made her debut at the back end of the year at Wolverhampton and only showed poor form. Now switched to Fibresand for the first time she only makes limited appeal.

Forecasts

Axe Cap (9/4), Decision Maker (7/2), Royal Pursuit (5/1), Mearing (6/1), Kodi Beach (8/1), Filbert Street (11/1), Nalaini (20/1), Madame Ritz (33/1), Alesandra (50/1), Eyes of Fire (100/1), We Win (250/1)

Verdict

This may be a little more competitive than the market suggests although Axe Cap sets the standard but the race she ran here previously was only a weak affair and she’s not one to take a short price about. Mearing is interesting with the blinkers going on for the first time but the sire’s relatively modest record here is slightly off putting. DECISION MAKER ran a sound race here last time and he may be able to go one better here with Kodi Beach and Filbert Street a couple of likely improvers.
  1. Decision Maker
  2. Axe Cap
  3. Kodi Beach
