Started his career in a very promising way with a third at Fontwell with his inexperience probably costing him anything further. The winner has already won again over hurdles to give the form some credence and he should take another step forward here.

8/1
Has some useful relations in his pedigree and showed plenty to work on when second on his debut at Plumpton in a race dominated by the winner and short-priced favourite. Pulled clear of the rest and could put that previous experience to good use now.

Finished second in the sole Irish point-to-point that he contested although that form doesn't look that strong. Yard don't have a bad record in bumpers this season (3/15).

His Irish point-to-point form reads well as he won that by 8L and the runner-up has since shown some useful form over hurdles since. Wasn't cheap at £135,000 and now makes his debut after a long absence with the yard yet to win a bumper this season.

Appears to be the lesser of the trainer's two chances in this bumper with this one having cost just £4,500 after winning his second point-to-point start (pulled-up on his debut).

Makes his debut here out of a dam who ran once in a bumper (unplaced) but does have some useful relation including the high-class Flat stayer Sergeant Cecil. Yard have yet to have a bumper winner in the last five seasons though (0/24).
One of two representatives who have a good record in bumpers overall (25% strike-rate last five years) and his dam was placed over hurdles. There is plenty to like about this one not least the stable he comes from and a bold bid is expected.

9/2
Appears to be the stronger of the two representatives from this yard and is a half-brother to the useful jumper Keeper Hill. Hard to fault the form of the yard in such events this season as they are currently running at a 30% strike-rate.
9
Horse silk
200/1
One of the outsiders of the party here having run in a couple of bumpers so far and shown very little but looks to need time and distance. Hard to make much of a case for her here.

Horse silk
12/1
Has already been seen for two yards in France and has finished placed in his last two bumpers and now makes his GB debut for another new yard. Cost €150,000 recently so should have a future based on his purchase price although the yard are 2/43 in bumpers in the last five years.

7/1
Looks to be the second string from this powerful yard that are always to be respected in this sphere having already recorded eight winners in similar events this season. Half-brother to six winners and should be watched in the market.

Forecasts

Baddesley Knight (4/1), Up To No Good (9/2), Morning Vicar (5/1), Knighthood (7/1), Coole Well (8/1), Black Lightning (8/1), Drovers Lane (10/1), Enrichissant (12/1), Hunt Politics (16/1), Jeffrey (25/1), Hally's Kitchen (200/1)

Verdict

Quite an interesting end to the card with seven making their debuts and both Nicky Henderson and Warren Greatrex hold strong hands and are doubly represented. The first string for Henderson looks to be Morning Vicar and he should be respected along with the likely main player from the Greatrex yard Up To No Good who cost €50,000 as a three-year-old. However, experience may well be a factor here and BADDESLEY KNIGHT started his career with a sound run at Fontwell and that form has been franked. Black Lightning also showed up well on his debut and he too has experience on his side. Drovers Lane comes back from a long absence but wasn’t a cheap purchase and he should be watched in the market along with French import Enrichissant.
  1. Baddesley Knight
  2. Morning Vicar
  3. Up To No Good
