Betfred Mobile Novices' Limited Handicap Chase

Off time: 14:25 | Winning time: 4m 12.10s

Saint Calvados¹⁸

Age: 5| Weight: 11-8| J: Aidan Coleman| T: H Whittington| OR: 147| CD

5/4

Winner of three of his four starts when trained in France he made a winning GB/handicap/stable debut by 9L at over C&D settling better than previously after being allowed to stride on. His mark of 147 looks workable (could have been given higher) and he remains an exciting prospect over fences.

Form: 1116-1

Jameson³²

Age: 6| Weight: 11-5| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 141

6/1

The handicapper dealt harshly with him for his Sandown win on his second chasing run, but he coped well with the increased impost subsequently in a handicap over 2m4f here. Found out by better company last time he can hold his own here.

Form: 12-2124

Tree Of Liberty¹⁴

Age: 6| Weight: 11-2| J: J E Moore| T: Kerry Lee| OR: 138| D

5/2

Had shown some useful form over hurdles for his previous yard but bettered that form on his chasing/stable debut at Ludlow when powering clear of his five rivals. Given an 8lb rise for that win and now faces a tougher task.

Form: 3221P-1

War Sound²⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 10-13| J: R Johnson| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR: 135| D

4/1

Fragile but useful over hurdles he's shaped well in his chasing starts so far without looking to be a natural and more of a slow burner. Certainly hasn't so far jumped with the fluency shown by his three rivals here and did guess at a few fences last time out; more to do here.

Form: 910/322

Forecasts

Saint Calvados (5/4), Tree Of Liberty (5/2), War Sound (4/1), Jameson (6/1)

Just the four runners go to post but this is still a tricky contest to sort out with two of the principals SAINT CALVADOS and Tree Of Liberty winning from the front last time out and that throws up the possibility of a potential pace duel here. The former can look a little headstrong but settled better last time when front-running tactics were employed and he may just be able to concede the weight all round. Jameson will be happier back in this company although this trip might be a little too short for him while War Sound has yet to fully convince over fences and will need to progress again to be able to get off the mark over fences here.
