Picked up for £20,000 in September after showing a reasonable level of form in Ireland for Gordon Elliott. Finished second over a similar trip to this in a Limerick Beginners Chase in May. Handicap/stable bow.

Hit the target as the market indicated was likely over hurdles at Chepstow (2m soft, March) and Bangor (2m3f+, September). Novicey when beaten 13L on his rules chasing debut at Huntingdon in October.

Age: 9|  Weight: 11-9| J: Lee Edwards| T: J Groucott| OR:  116

Prominent racer who is a six time winner over fences, and will appreciate this ease in grade. Capable over both 2m and 2m4f, and was a 33/1 winner off this mark at Worcester in October (2m).

Back with a bang for new connections when hacking up over 2m4f (soft) at Wincanton last month. Up 8lb, but that's fair, and whilst now approaching pensionable age, he can still seemingly show these youngsters a clean pair of heels.

A six race maiden over hurdles, but made his first start over fences a winning one at Thurles in October (2m2f Beginners Chase). Sold for £35,000 in November, and goes handicapping from what could be a very reasonable mark.

Hasn't made much noise since scoring over hurdles here in February (2m heavy). Hasn't looked a natural over fences in either attempt, and also has stamina to prove.

Just 2lb above his last winning mark at Stratford in April (2m3f good), but hasn't looked in the same form this term and was well beaten at Chepstow latest. Late spring is possibly the best time to catch him right.

His recent form figures aren't the most encouraging, but he's fallen 22lb in the weights since September as a result. More than capable off this mark, and gained some valuable course experience here last month.

Broadly reliable without finding the winners enclosure all that often. Not won beyond 2m, but was a runner up off this mark at Chepstow last month (2m3f+) when beaten 5L by Lord Bryan.

Key To The Westp,t25
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-0| J: Nick Scholfield| T: J L Spearing| OR:  107| D
25/1
Veteran who hasn't won a race since December 2014 (2m novices handicap chase). Tailed off on recent stable debut (2m4f heavy), but could do better if allowed to bowl along in front. Not an obvious contender.

Follow The Swallowt,v62
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-12| J: Kielan Woods| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR:  105

Never raced off a mark this low previously, so that at least is in his favour. Not won a race since March 2016 despite a further 11 attempts, and could hardly be described as a winner waiting to happen.

Off the radar for a while until returning to form this winter with a pleasing effort at Ffos Las in November, backed up by a course success (2m5f) latest when beating Shanty Town by 1¼L. Chance off just 2lb higher.

Age: 11|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Banks| T: S-J Davies| OR:  92

His record of 1 from 21 over fences speaks for itself, but he's falling to what should theoretically be a competitive mark. Beaten 3L by Bandol over C&D in December 2016 on his sole visit to Hereford.

Verdict

A burn up could be on the cards with a number of the field at their best when allowed to race prominently. Both Truckers Highway and Key To The West could potentially take on the old-stager Ratify up front, and that might be just enough to prove detrimental to the chance of the Fergal O'Brien trained horse. The likes of Ckalco Des Loges and Everyday Everyhour offer a youthful element in a race where a couple of veterans lurk, but it could be a similar sort in the shape of the Richard Woollacott trained BORN TO SIZE who could prove best handicapped of the lesser exposed horses. Of the remainder Jayo Time is undeniably thrown in off his current mark if able to rediscover his best form, but that has been firmly lingering in the long grass for quite some considerable time now, and the percentage call is too oppose.
