Unraced second foal by Bertolini who arrives late to racing at the age of eight. Half-brother to 2m4f chase winner Zayfire Aramis.

Off the track since December 2016, this Montmartre gelding can be expected to improve for the run. Finished fifth of 13 on hurdles debut at Chepstow (2m good to soft).

100/1
Filled the rear division on his sole start to date in a 2m maiden hurdle at Ludlow in late November. Bred to stay, and is a half-brother to 2m3f hurdle winner Normandy King, so this extra yardage looks helpful.

Placed in a couple of 3m good ground point-to-points in the spring of 2017, but has been out of his depth in novice company since switched to these shores. Tends to race keenly, but has C&D experience.
Half-brother to eight winners including French Grade 3 winner Tell No One and prolific chase winner Current Event. Offered no show on debut in a Ludlow bumper in December, but this race looks a reasonable next objective.

Placed on all three starts over hurdles and has returned from a break in decent order. His current handicap mark looks ridiculous, but this race provides a decent opportunity if able to replicate his 12¼L third to Battle Of Ideas at Plumpton (2m4f).

Cost £28,000 from the point-to-point scene, and the pick of his hurdles efforts suggest he'll be ultra competitive at this level. Disappointing on his latest start in March, so has a few questions to answer, but possibly worth chancing.

Well backed on his rules debut at Chepstow in November (11/8f), but time has since told that he faced a stiff task there in a bumper taken by Good Boy Bobby. Stays well, and this won't take much winning on hurdles debut.
No signs of ability so far, including in a C&D novice event prior to Christmas. This trainer does know the time of day though, so he could progress with more time and experience.

Basement buy who outran her 40/1 odds when finishing 4½L second to Kalahari Queen at Lingfield in December (2m soft), but you'd probably be far from certain that she'd back that effort up today.
Moderate looking mare out of a 1m4f-2m1f winner on the Flat. Makes her hurdling debut following the abandonment of the previous fixture at this track (entered).

Forecasts

Rock My Style (9/5), Sunset Showdown (2/1), Piton Pete (4/1), Cold As Ice (9/1), Sunday In The Park (12/1), Itsamanslife (25/1), Touch Of Velvett (66/1), Lake Washington (66/1), Berlief Aramis (66/1), The Final Whistle (100/1), Concealed Ambition (100/1)

Verdict

A race which lacks strength in depth, and those horses allocated handicap marks look to have been given lofty perches for what they've actually achieved. Piton Pete has shown ability, but he'd surely struggle to be competitive off a mark of 125, so his trainer Oliver Sherwood looks to be rather limited in terms of finding winning opportunities; other than in this grade. Rock My Style has a few slight question marks to address, but probably boasts the pick of the form over hurdles so far. Therefore, a chance is taken on the hurdles debutante (point-to-point winner) SUNSET SHOWDOWN. This gelding was well found in the market ahead of his rules bumper debut at Chepstow in November, and thankfully for his new trainer, he doesn't lock horns with Good Boy Bobby here.
  1. Sunset Showdown
  2. Rock My Style
  3. Piton Pete
