Has to be of interest off this sort of mark as he was rated 120 for handicap debut some 10 months ago. Shaped with a little encouragement when the handicapper took some mercy on him running well at Carlisle on his penultimate start and might have been ridden too positively last time (fell last); interesting for a yard going well.

Trainer 0/19 with handicap debutantes in last five years (0/10 at Ayr) and this one has only shown modest form at best in novice hurdles. Little chance when a 100/1 chance here last time over 2m this step up in trip and handicapping at least gives him a chance.

Last two efforts over fences and on handicap (hurdle) debut last time out have produced laboured efforts that have raised temperament doubts. Dropped 3lb from last time she now wears a visor for the first time (tried in cheekpieces last twice); chance if she can travel better in new headgear back over 2m4f.

Failed to take to chasing and reverted to hurdles with a win in this contest 12 months ago off the same mark and on similar ground. Unable to repeat that sort of form in four starts since then, but positive signs last time in better company.

Has certainly regressed over hurdles since showing some fair form in bumpers (refused to race on final start in that sphere). Made his handicap debut last time out off 6lb higher and raced wide jumped left throughout at Musselburgh.

Showed his first form over hurdles (had won a bumper) when taking the runner-up slot in a weak 0-100 contest over slightly further here in March off 2lb higher. Pulled up here on his reappearance last time out (off the bridle a long way out) and others preferred.

Better known as a chaser nowadays but did have an outing over hurdles over C&D in March off an 8lb higher mark (went with enthusiasm but failed as usual to deliver much off the bridle). Not seen since April and likely to need this although could travel well for a fair way.

Has returned this season for a new yard from a lengthy break and for the first time runs from within the handicap. Blinkers are now the headgear of choice from a career low mark and despite still being a maiden after 25 starts does have pieces of form that might make him of interest off a proper mark at last.

Forecasts

Haul Us In (11/4), Tomahawk Wood (3/1), Dakota Grey (11/2), Knocklayde (11/2), One In A Row (8/1), What A Dream (11/1), Border Victor (12/1), Read'em And Weep (18/1), Rooster Spirit (20/1)

Verdict

Hard to be positive about the large majority of these with solid form rather thin on the ground and it may be best to rely on DAKOTA GREY who fell on his last start and although he looked held at the time that was a decent run and a repeat of his Carlisle third would see him go close here. Haul Us In has shown some ability but looks a hard ride and the visor will need to work here. Tomahawk Wood will need to bounce back from some poor efforts if to repeat last year's success, while handicap debutante Read’Em And Weep is given a chance along with One In A Row who finally gets a chance off a proper mark.
  1. Dakota Grey
  2. One In A Row
  3. Haul Us In
