Fair form in bumpers and ran a lot better on his second start over hurdles after he was rather lit-up on his initial start over obstacles (wore hood). Shaped with promise at Down Royal last time (led until falling three out) and might be better suited by this 2m trip.
Well backed on his first start for this yard in a bumper here over this trip after a break of eight months shaping better than his final position suggests. If here was a negative it was the fact he was a little keen and he needs to settle better on a testing surface on his hurdles debut.
Has some decent relations in his pedigree but was unplaced in Irish point-to-points and has finished well held in two novice hurdles so far on heavy ground at Bangor and Haydock. Needs this run for a mark and better expected once he's seen in handicaps.
Looks to make some appeal on pedigree and shaped well on his only start so far at Hexham. Not on terms at any stage but not knocked around and that form has been franked by the subsequent exploits of the first two from that race.
Shaped with promise on his bumper debut (November 2016) at Newcastle but failed to improve after seven months off on his second start (started favourite both times). Still rough around the edges at Perth (yard had two other flops on the day); now makes his hurdles debut on softest ground he's faced.
0/10 over hurdles and has shown some ability at times especially in handicaps (only runner with a mark here; 99). Only lightly raced of late though and returns from another long break here.
Best of his three bumper runs came on heavy at Hereford when not looking the finished article but did leave his debut run behind. His hurdles debut after nine months off showed promise at Lingfield (unseated rider 2 out); a repeat of that gives him a chance here.
Showed only poor form in bumpers and finished down the field in mares events over hurdles. Started big prices on both her hurdles starts and that's unlikely to be any different here.

Forecasts
Benefit North (2/1), Well Smitten (9/4), Grand Morning (4/1), Nando (9/2), Cadougarde (14/1), Green Tikkana (25/1), Peters Grey (25/1), Biennial (40/1), For Jim (66/1)
An interesting opener with a few novices that have shown promise so far and it should prove to be an informative event although it will be a good test at the trip on the ground. Benefit North will need to settle better than his has so far to make the most of his ability while Well Smitten represents Warren Greatrex (this will be his first runner outside the Scottish Grand National Meeting since 2009) he should enjoy the ground but needs to stay upright this time. Nando makes his hurdles debut for a trainer with a good record here and must enter the equation along with GRAND MORNING who was given a considerate introduction over hurdles in a race where the form is working out well. Biennial and Cadougarde are two at bigger prices who could get involved.
- Grand Morning
- Well Smitten
- Benefit North
