In cracking form and rattled off the hat-trick making all at Chelmsford last time, finding plenty for pressure and winning well. Penalty to carry here but question is whether this surface will suit as well as Tapeta. Obvious chance if so.
Old boy that was a very speedy front-runner at his peak, and retained plenty of enthusiasm for the job last year, but not seen out since last April and likely to need this to blow a few cobwebs away (no great record fresh).
Like a few from the yard, has refound a bit of form lately and trademark late finish got him there in early December. Didn't quite get there latest but a good pace guaranteed here, which will help his cause. May well get back on the scoresheet.
Has form that ties him in closely with Temple Road lately, C&D winner last time out when coming with a storming run to get up late in the piece. 4lb higher here and inexperienced claimer takes the ride, so may need a bit more.
Better at this trip than further, went close at Wolverhampton two starts back (5f) but then weakened out of it late at Kempton last time (6f). Not much wriggle room off this mark and others hold more persuasive claims.
Now 1lb lower than last winning mark and has had a short break since last seen (and has won off a break before) so has some plus points, but needs to show effectiveness on this surface. Market may give best guide as to chances.
Inconsistent, but on the positive side, has plenty of C&D form to call upon and does tend to reserve his best for here. However, needs to improve on most recent effort here and others look to have stronger cases.
Only low grade but knows how to win should the opportunity present itself, often finds plenty for pressure but in recent efforts has been behind a few of these and on that, needs to find a bit more today.
A regular over C&D and does have the odd good effort to his name, but normally finds a few too good and that's the likely scenario again here.
Just the one win in 30 starts, hard to catch right at the best of times and given he's not been seen out since September, likely to need this run regardless. Hard to make a solid case for.
Forecasts
Roundabout Magic (5/2), Absolutely Awesome (3/1), Look Surprised (4/1), Jorvik Prince (5/1), Temple Road (8/1), Mercers (16/1), Hurricane Alert (16/1), Ask The Guru (25/1), Bertie Blu Boy (33/1), Pharoh Jake (50/1)
If JORVIK PRINCETemple Road tends to keep his form for a few runs when he finds it and after two solid efforts lately, can prove the biggest danger. Roundabout Magic can round out the tricast.
- Jorvik Prince
- Temple Road
- Roundabout Magic
