Age: 7| Weight: 0-0| J: N D Fehily| T: H Fry| OR: 141| D

7/4

Strapping son of King's Theatre made a successful chasing debut despite being cautious at some obstacles. The runner-up has won since and he could be ahead of the handicapper.

Form: 124-1

Cultivator⁵²

Age: 7| Weight: 0-0| J: N de Boinville| T: N J Henderson| OR: 138

11/2

Form looks mixed but clearly shows he is more effective going right-handed. Showed a good attitude here last time, but he is unproven on ground as soft as this.

Form: 3618-P2

Ballydine³⁶

Age: 8| Weight: 0-0| J: J J Burke| T: C E Longsdon| OR: 135

5/2

Very useful hurdler in 2015/16 and ran Barters Hill to ¾L in a Doncaster Grade Two. Came back from hitting a flat spot to narrowly fail on Haydock chase debut. Had a hard race that day, but on a good mark if he has.

3/1

Has always looked a chaser in the making and he was a 133-rated hurdler. Pulled-up and found to be bleeding from the nose last time, but had jumped better than he had on his chasing debut.

Forecasts

Acting Lass (7/4), Ballydine (5/2), Ballyarthur (3/1), Cultivator (11/2)

Cultivator is happiest going right-handed and his hurdling form gives him an obvious chance from this mark. However, he is unproven on a soft surface and ACTING LASS makes more appeal. This lightly raced sort has bags of scope and will have learnt plenty from his chasing debut. That form has substance and he can take this en-route to better things. Ballydine looks a threat judged on his comeback run last month, but he had a hard race that day and it remains to be seen if this fragile sort can reproduce that kind of effort again. Ballyarthur is better than his two chase efforts suggest and he cannot be dismissed lightly in what should be an intriguing contest.
