Right back to form when making all at Wolverhampton last week, finding plenty for pressure to come right away late. Not fared so well with the draw here, and drops back to 6f, so questions to answer, but clearly in good heart.

Came good at Newcastle in early December when an easy winner of a Newcastle maiden, so no issue with surface, but couldn't repeat that effort last time and now steps up to 6f too. Not out of it, but needs to bounce back.

Not doing much at present, although not beaten far at Wolverhampton latest and is now down to a good-looking handicap mark. Well drawn here and if finding best form, wouldn't be out of it.

Irish raider who won over C&D on latest start, winning snugly in a decent time but that was a bottom grade affair and this is slightly harder. Nevertheless, clearly in good heart and from a decent draw, every chance of the follow-up.

Hard to catch right, as a 2-32 record shows, but this C&D suits and he has more than enough decent efforts at it to suggest he can get involved if he's on a going day. More likely to place than win though, so others preferred for the top prize.

Has been going nowhere fast for some while now and did no better on first run for new yard last month. Drop in trip again and new headgear tried, but hard to see why that's going to improve the situation.

Just the one win in 27 starts tells you plenty, finds winning hard and not really doing enough at present to suggest he's about to double his tally tonight.

Close third at Leicester in a weak seller last year the highlight of his five starts and was thrashed out of sight here last time out. New headgear given a try and is at least open to improvement, but he'll need it.

Has given notice on last two starts that there's a race in him when it all drops right, didn't get the breaks at Kempton last week but ran respectably and might go close here if getting a pace to aim at. Not discounted.

Forecasts

Mercury (11/8), Spare Parts (9/4), Tasaaboq (5/1), Jazz Affair (7/1), Dream Revival (10/1), Deben (12/1), Firesnake (12/1), Kyllach Me (14/1), Zircon (16/1), Sharp Operator (28/1), Irish Sky (50/1)

Verdict

Spare Parts looks the one to beat after his Wolverhampton win last week, but Nicola Currie might have to use a bit more petrol than she'd like to get to the front from stall 11, and the partnership might find themselves under fire late in the day. Things haven't dropped right for JAZZ AFFAIR lately but a decent pace here will help and maybe this is his turn. Mercury and Firesnake can both be given chances in an open looking event.
