Sole success came in a mares' maiden hurdle this time last year. Goes on soft ground and was likely to have made frame when falling last time. Same mark today and over her optimum trip she has claims in slightly inferior race.
Scored on debut for this trainer last season in a Southwell mares' maiden hurdle (1m7½f, good to soft). Well held in Grade 2 when last seen in March. Well worth another try over this trip and with stable in cracking form she could do much better.
Listed bumper winner last season and also Grade 2 runner-up in that sphere. Has run with credit in all three completed hurdle starts and can put a line through latest when hampered. Possibilities from this mark on handicap debut.
Soft ground mares' novices' hurdle winner at Market Rasen (2m½f) last season. Ran well on second handicap start at Sandown last time (2m4f) when still in it at the last and enters calculations here with the promise of more to come.
Was led to post before leading them all the way to win by 7L in a Warwick novices' contest last March. Last in Grade 2 next time and pulled up quickly at Bangor on reappearance in October. On good mark if back to her best, but has that to prove.
Dual bumper winner for Harry Whittington and made winning debut for this yard at Ffos Las (2m, soft, in hood) in October. Not far away under penalty in novices' contest last time. Mark looks fair and she is respected on handicap debut.
Has a soft ground mares' bumper win to her name from 2016 and has run well in most starts over hurdles, including when winning at Taunton in April. 1lb better off with Mariah's Legend for 4½L on their Ludlow form and claims after 3lb drop.
Improved in all four Irish point-to-points, winning the last of them. Also improved for hurdles debut when beaten 3¼L in a Towcester maiden last time. Best efforts so far on good ground, but could improve for step up in trip and has each-way claims.
Largely consistent over hurdles, winning at Stratford last spring and also at Warwick (2m5f, heavy) last time out. Runs under a penalty now back in this handicap, though good claimer partially negates rise and she has to be considered again.
AW bumper weather a year ago and broke her duck over hurdles in a weak Southwell mares' maiden in June (good). Has already been taken out when ground was soft and that is a concern, especially after her latest start.
Began well over hurdles in the early part of last year and might have won but for falling at Huntingdon. Not as good this term and jumping issues have also resurfaced. On a handy mark if cheek pieces can help her hurdle more fluently.
Won three hurdles at up to 2m3f (inc on soft) in 2016 and has run some good races in better company since then, though the handicapper has had her measure. Dropped 4lb since beaten 24L by Mariah's Legend last time and each-way claims if at her best.
Landed a mares' handicap hurdle at Sedgefield (2m4f, soft) in March from 7lb lower. Has been chasing both starts this term, but well beaten, so reverts to hurdles and if she can return to last season's form she'd have a squeak.
You have to go way back to December 2013 to find her latest hurdles win (2m4¼f, good to soft) at Southwell. 13lb below that mark these days and although she may do better that her recent pipe-opener after a break, others are preferred here.
Soft ground Ayr bumper winner on debut last season and has come on with each run over hurdles this term, her best effort when a 12L fourth at Wetherby (2m3½f, soft) last time. Looks like she could handle this mark on handicap debut and interesting.
Scored on her hurdles intro at Fakenham in November (2m, good) in a fillies' juvenile contest and decent effort on handicap debut back over that C&D (soft) last time. Up 4lb for that neck defeat, though no easy task against older opponents.
Forecasts
Oscar Rose (11/2), Black Tulip (11/2), Canoodle (15/2), Polly's Pursuit (9/1), Ruby Yeats (10/1), Meribel Millie (10/1), Woolstone One (11/1), All My Love (12/1), Rosie McQueen (14/1), The Crazed Moon (14/1), Mariah's Legend (20/1), Grand Turina (20/1), Cubswin (20/1), Hermanus (22/1), Midtech Valentine (25/1), Beyeh (66/1)
A very tough race for punters and an open one on paper. Mariah's Legend has taken on some better fields and is very interesting now dropped slightly in class, despite having to shoulder topweight. A win for her would be no surprise, though RUBY YEATS is less exposed and with her trainer's runners going very well and headgear to help, she may be able to win a race like this. There are plenty of others of interest on a lengthy short-list, with Oscar Rose, Hermanus, Cubswin, Midtech Valentine, Canoodle and The Crazed Moon among those who could be involved at the business end.
- Ruby Yeats
- Mariah's Legend
- Canoodle
