Has knocked on the door several times but remains a maiden after 15 starts. Beaten favourite last time out in slightly better contest. Handles soft ground but has yet to race on heavy. Enters calculations, though lack of a win offputting.
Won a point-to-point and is 1-4 over fences, that success being over C&D (good) in September from 3lb lower. Held by handicapper since then and although he is again on a competitive mark, conditions this testing are a concern.
Has an excellent record on heavy ground at around 2m. Last win was two years ago and now 13lb lower. Not much for punters to hang their hats on apart from his mark and the presence of the champion in the saddle, though interesting on both counts.
Goes into this on a competitive handicap mark and with the benefit of a decent pipe-opener at Lingfield in November under his belt. However, CV shows he is 0-17 and although unexposed over fences, that record is a concern from a punting perspective.

Forecasts
Bramble Brook (6/4), Whispering Harry (3/1), Ramore Will (7/2), Sir Hubert (4/1), Finnegan's Garden (4/1), Spock (11/2)
On the face of it this does not look a race to get too heavily involved in, with holes to be picked in the form of all of them in one way or another. Bramble Brook and the unexposed Sir Hubert each tries to break their duck over fences and both could again find something too good. Finnegan's Garden won well at this track last time and although this is tougher, he is at least in form and races from his true mark today after an 8lb rise. He could go close again. Spock is also in good form, though he has never previously backed-up a win with further success and therefore it might be worth chancing WHISPERING HARRY, who relishes heavy ground, is on a good mark and has the champ up today, though his stamina would also have to be a concern.
