Nothing special on pedigree but belied odds of 40/1 to make a winning start over C&D (good to soft) last month, staying on well to edge out Lilliput Lane. Not an obvious one to defy a penalty.

Half-sister to fair hurdler The Big Dipper and hails from a yard with a pretty formidable recent strike-rate in this sphere. Paddy Brennan's only mount on the card - has to be of interest.

13/2
Nibbled at in the betting ahead of her debut in similar event at Huntingdon (1m5f, good to soft) in November and chased home the ready odds-on winner, French Crusader. Entitled to come on for that experience.
Midnight Legend mare out of a dam who won a 2m5f chase. Yard going well right now and their runners in this sphere are invariably worth a second look, though may not be stable's best hope.
Cost just €2,500 at the sales and showed next to nothing when beaten out of sight at odds of 100/1 on her debut at Chepstow last month.

Plenty of stamina in the pedigree and was sent off favourite for the race over C&D won by Brushed Up but unseated after jinking right quite early on. Has to be considered once again.

11/10
A half-sister to 4 winners, most notably the smart hurdler/chaser Simonsig. Makes obvious appeal on paper with the yard in such magnificent form right now.

Flickers of promise when finishing fifth of 10 in a junior bumper at Hereford (2m, soft) last month and like to improve, though this looks a much stronger race.

Forecasts

Simonia (11/10), Sea Story (4/1), Lady Of The Night (6/1), Cheeky Chica (13/2), Angel Moon (11/1), Brushed Up (12/1), Kestrel Valley (20/1), Pedulia Alba (20/1), Sally Can't Wait (25/1), The Imitation Game (66/1), R Bren (100/1)

Verdict

Brushed Up was a surprise winner of a similar event over C&D last month but, given that she's now penalised, the one to take out of that race is probably SEA STORY who was sent off favourite that day only to unseat early in unfortunate circumstances. Even so, with the Nicky Henderson's yard in such formidable form, it's hard to look beyond the beautifully-bred newcomer SIMONIA, a daughter of Yeats and a half-sister to the top-class Simonsig amongst others. Angel Moon looks the most interesting of the remainder.
  1. Simonia
  2. Sea Story
  3. Angel Moon
