Made a winning debut over course and distance in October but those who cahsed him home have all run very poorly in subsequent outings. Has to give away 7lb and more all round so it won't be easy in this ground.

Ran in three bumpers in Ireland for Andrew McNamara before switching to current yard. Showed only modest form but cannot be completely ruled out if change of scene helps his cause.
Cheaply bought daughter of Overbury makes her racecourse debut here. Yard not known for producing winners first time out so others make more appeal.
French bred cost 52,000 euros and is out of a dam who won over both hurdles and fences. Yard in good form and does really well in these type of events so has to rate a very serious contender.

Modeartely bred gelding by Distant Peak out of a dam who failed to score across all codes.Yard going through a quiet spell so is passed over.
Five-year-old Multiplex gelding tastes racecourse action for the first time. Dam was of little account and yard's runners normally need a few outing to bring them to concert pitch.
15,000 euros son of Big Bad Bob. Dam half sister to Ebor Handicap winner Far Ahead, and to the smart chaser Tiutchev. Nice pedigree, so despite yard having a quiet spell rates one of the leading contenders.

£10,000 purchase. This son of Overbury is out of a dam who won twice up to 12f and is from the family of some very useful hurdlers including Staying Hurdle star Inglis Drever. Would not surprise if he made his presence felt.

Gold Well mare who showed very little on course and distance debut in similar ground in November. Would take a great leap fo faith to support her.

Idee De Garde (2/1), Younoyounoyouno (7/2), Drenek (4/1), Biennial (5/1), Thepensionfund (6/1), Hangard (13/2), Bluefortytwo (9/1), Ska Ridge (25/1), Ciarabella (50/1), Stans Black Five (50/1)

Verdict

IDEE DE GARDE looks the part on papaer and with his yard doing nciely over the holdiay period is taken to make a winning racecourse debut. Previous winner Hangard sets the standard but there is a question mark over the value of his C&D win in the autumn. Under his penalty he may prove vulnerable. Drenek, Thepensionfund, and Younoyounoyouno are other newcomers who are likely to have potential.
