Very useful on his day, finishing runner-up to Don Poli in the RSA at Cheltenham in his pomp. Losing run stretches back nearly three years now and lost his way on recent starts but handicapper starting to give him a chance.

Grade 2 winner over fences two seasons ago at Ascot in soft ground. Some time since he's had soft or heavy ground over the larger obstacles and handicapper starting to relent. Not ruled out in first-time cheekpieces.

Got life over fences off to a good start at Worcester in September but hasn't been in the same mood since, well beaten here at the Showcase meeting before never going a yard at Haydock when last seen. Needs to bounce back.

Not won for nearly two years but will appreciate these conditions more than most. His jumping can be a little hit and miss these days but no doubt he's on a workable mark and can't be ruled out if he puts a clear round in.

Has been campaigning over fences for four years now but badly out of form this season and jumping very unreliable these days. Likely outsider of the field.

Forecasts

Vyta Du Roc (15/8), Ballymalin (5/2), Russe Blanc (10/3), Southfield Theatre (7/1), Lamb Or Cod (12/1)

Verdict

VYTA DU ROC will enjoy conditions here and if the return to softer ground or first-time cheekpieces see him somewhere near his best form, he will be tough to beat for a yard in flying form. Russe Blanc is another who won't mind the testing ground but Southfield Theatre could prove the main danger to the selection now that the handicapper has him on a more realistic handicap mark.
  1. Vyta Du Roc
  2. Southfield Theatre
  3. Russe Blanc
