Born Legendb19
Age: 3|  Weight: 11-4| J: Thomas Garner(3)| T: O Sherwood| OR:  105
14/1
Has plenty of hurdles experience for his age, and was a ready 10L winner at Bangor on his penultimate start in November (2m soft). Bitterly disappointing next time at Fontwell in handicap company and needs to bounce back.

Acarot119
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: H Cobden| T: R Walford
11/4
Sinndar gelding who races in the first time tongue tie after showing a limited degree of promise in deep ground at Fontwell last month (2m1f+), when beaten 8L by Aiguille Rouge.
3
Horse silk
100/1
Placed three times for Tim Easterby at up to 1m on the Flat, but hasn't shown anything over hurdles so far, including over C&D latest, when a distant ninth of 12 to Style De Garde.

Hold Me Tightt34
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Nick Scholfield| T: P Gundry
33/1
17 race maiden under all codes, but posted a 'better' hurdles effort when 25L second to Mercenaire at Exeter (2m1f, soft) last month.

Kapdad23
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Joshua Moore| T: G & J Moore

Fourth foal by Kapgarde who tackles hurdles for the first time after finishing 21L third to Acey Milan on debut in a Wincanton bumper earlier this month (2m soft).

Nayati
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King
10/11
Landed a 1m7f Flat maiden at Senonnes-Pouance (soft) in late October, and has since moved onto these shores. His dam was a maiden under national hunt rules, but a sister to the 2m-2m5f hurdle/chase winner Theinval. Interesting in a weak race.
7
Horse silk
11/2
Rated in the 80's on the Flat for this trainer, and was a winner over 1m4f (good) at Pontefract in July. Fell at the last on his hurdles debut at Market Rasen earlier this month when probably just held by Crucial Moment.

Forecasts

Nayati (10/11), Acaro (11/4), Special Relation (11/2), Kapdad (12/1), Born Legend (14/1), Hold Me Tight (33/1), He's A Toff (100/1)

Verdict

Very testing conditions are predicted for today's Newbury action, and as a result this opening contest isn't as strong as one might expect for the track. NAYATI is an interesting hurdles newcomer for Alan King, and a winner of a French Flat maiden on deep ground in October, so probably won't have to be overly sharp in order to play a leading role in this event. Of those with experience, the bar isn't set particularly high, with the 105-rated Born Legend the only previous winner in the contest.
  1. Nayati
  2. Special Relation
  3. Acaro
