Decent handicapper at his peak on the Flat (stayed very well) and took a step forward on anything he'd shown previously over hurdles when a close third to Miss Maiden Over when last seen, but that was over a year ago and he's likely to need this

Moderate handicapper on the Flat (best around a mile) and although not disgraced on hurdles debut here in November, looks one for handicaps after today.

Ran well to finish second at Uttoxeter on seasonal reappearance in October and that form just about sets the standard here, but disappointing on handicap debut at Ascot when well down the field. This is easier though, and has to be on the shortlist.

Did win one on the Flat (for Brian Ellison) in September but has shown very little over hurdles in three starts for this yard to date and can't be entertained as the likely winner here.

Rated 100 on the Flat at his peak and hasn't really shown enough over hurdles to make him on instant appeal here, but yard are known for landing the odd leftfield gamble with these types and on that alone, needs a market check.
6

250/1
Only low grade on the Flat and switch to hurdles hasn't improved things, not beating a horse home on either start and it's hard to see him taking a leading role here either.

Prolific Flat winner at 1m-1m2f (including several times on soft) for Eric Alston (current rating 59). No jumping success in pedigree and now makes belated hurdles debut and stable debut. Stamina a slight concern and probably one to watch today.
Useful stayer on the Flat for Andrew Balding (won off a mark of 85 this summer) and just the sort his new yard do well with over hurdles. Interesting recruit to the jumping game and worth consideration, particularly if there's a bit of support.
Bred for the job but only a glimmer of promise to be taken from his hurdles debut at Sedgefield earlier in the month, and will be one that will make more appeal in handicaps further down the line.

Ran well when second in a bumper here in February, finishing a close second (winner and third both wo again since) and has translated that ability to hurdles, placing three times since. No reason not to run his race and place prospects at worst.
Only moderate on the Flat for MIck Appleby (won one on heavy ground at Leicester in 2016) and did show a degree of promise on hurdles debut for new yard here last month. Needs improvement but that's not impossible, so needs a second look.
No immediate promise on debut at Carlisle last month and still likely to need this experience too. No realistic chance on that.

Forecasts

Enola Gay (15/8), Teescomponents Lad (9/4), Swashbuckle (5/2), Young Tom (9/1), Big Thunder (22/1), Gang Warfare (40/1), Dutch Artist (50/1), Tab Hogarth (66/1), Millie The Minx (100/1), Lord Franklin (100/1), Frozon (200/1), Grecian King (250/1)

Verdict

Teescomponents Lad looks to hold a solid chance once more but preference is for ENOLA GAY, who didn't perform last time but is back in clamer waters here and is taken to bounce back. Young Tom might be the one to reward e/w backers at a fair price.
  1. Enola Gay
  2. Teescomponents Lad
  3. Young Tom
