Proved himself over 2m5½f at Market Rasen (good to soft) when beaten 3½L into second in a Market Rasen handicap chase. Raced as though this extra couple of furlongs would suit and should be involved again if handling soft ground as well.
Made the frame in a couple of Irish point-to-points with cut in the ground. Half-brother to 2m3f hurdle/2m4f chase winner Dark Flame. Unraced dam from staying chase stock, so market check suggested ahead of this rules debut.
Dual winner over hurdles, including here over 2m3½f last season and on soft at Sedgefield later. Open to improvement over fences after just two runs and this step up in trip could help. Stable's runners always respected at this venue.

Forecasts
Bordeaux Bill (4/5), Sharp Response (6/5), Three Ways (9/4), Thumb Stone Blues (15/2), Dark Valley (20/1)
It is interesting that Sue Smith, whose Delusion Of Grandeur beat Thumb Stone Blues at Catterick recently, takes on that gelding with Sharp Response here and she may feel that there is a fair bit more to come from her gelding, though preference is for THREE WAYS. Jamie Showden's six-year-old has run well over C&D already and looks to have a good chance to get off the mark over fences. Bordeaux Bill is not ruled out and with the stable among the winners, Dark Valley at least deserves a market check on debut.
- Three Ways
- Sharp Response
