French import won on debut at this meeting last year, subsequently second to stablemate Bacardys in Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle here. Held in top-class affairs at Cheltenham and Punchestown in the spring, should go well on chase bow.
Maiden hurdle winner over 2m4f at Fairyhouse in April, held next time in handicap company. Back from a break to make chase bow, could go well.
Solid second on chase bow at Navan in October (2m, soft), though since unseated rider at the first in Navan contest having gone off in front. Also fell at the second when running loose. Must prove no ill-effects from that misfortune.
Flat-bred individual who took well to novice hurdling last season, winning two from four starts. Held when falling at the last on chase bow at Thurles (2m2f, soft) last month. Represents top connections, though may be stable second string.
Promising start over fences when chasing home smart-looking Al Boum Photo at Navan last month (2m1f, soft to heavy). Solid claims here if building on that, with that rival impressing again at Limerick yesterday.
Tailed off in 2m beginners' chase on heavy ground at Punchestown this month already, having gone off 33/1. Watching brief seems best for now.
Forecasts
Bunk Off Early (6/4), Tycoon Prince (3/1), Le Martalin (3/1), Montalbano (9/2), Drumconnor Lad (20/1), Don't Let Go (50/1)
Bunk Off Early made a winning start for Team Mullins at this meeting a year ago and developed into a smart novice hurdler with two wins from four starts. He's forgiven defeats at the major spring festivals and should be primed to go now tackling fences for the first time on his return to action. LE MARTALIN made a really fine start over fences at Wexford in going a neck behind Dinaria Des Obeaux, who won again next time and ran well in the Drinmore since. Noel Meade's charge made a swift exit on his next start at Navan but could bounce back with a big run here if staying upright. Tycoon Prince can also get involved while the other Mullins runner, Montalbano, has some improvement to find.
- Le Martalin
- Bunk Off Early
- Tycoon Prince
