French hurdle winner got off the mark for current yard when winning by 14L over 2m½f at Huntingdon. Well held second of five latest at Newbury. Stable second string and plenty to do on ratings but should continue to improve.

Six-time point-to-point winner has been beaten out of sight in all five starts to date under rules. Changed yards now and likely to be completely outclassed.

Won three times over hurdles although behind a couple of these on ratings. Made pleasing chasing debut at Newton Abbot beating The Unit by 9L. Shade disappointing latest when turned over at odds-on at Warwick but may have gone too quick.

Three-time winner over timber has already had three starts over fences. Seconds at Worcester and Bangor split by a win at Leicester. Seems a progressive type but jumping left a cause for concern here.

Forecasts

Shantou Rock (6/4), Cyrname (7/4), Tommy Silver (9/4), The Unit (3/1), Kostaquarta (100/1)

Verdict

SHANTOU ROCK may have gone off too fast at Warwick and he paid the price late on but Dan Skelton's charge is a particularly bold jumper for a novice and he could really put the pressure on his rivals from the front here and this flat track should play to his strengths. Tommy Silver is Sam Twiston-Davies' choice of the Nicholls duo and he could prove the toughest rival for the selection. A flat 2m may not be ideal for The Unit but if Shantou Rock goes too hard again he could be the one to pick up the pieces.
  1. Shantou Rock
  2. Tommy Silver
  3. The Unit
