Dual winning novice hurdler earlier in the year with both wins coming at Bangor (improved with each run. Disappointed to a certain extent in handicaps over hurdles (handed a stiff mark) but ran well on chase debut (considerately handled) and jumped well; mark looks feasible.

Showed his best form when winning over hurdles at Hexham in September off a mark of 108 finally getting his act together. Not the most consistent though although didn't do badly on his chase debut off 115 (jumping was novicey). Regressed last time and jumping doubts remain.

There was obvious promise in his chase run at Downpatrick in October (wore tongue-tie first time) off a mark of 92. Off that same mark he then won over C&D (beat Running in Heels); first run over fences since (11lb higher) but shaped well again over hurdles last time.

A winner first time out for this yard over hurdles in June (current headgear used for first time) but flopped the next time out (race came too soon). Easy to back over C&D last time out and but may struggle to reverse form with the winner from 3lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Mullaghmurphy Blue (11/10), Cousin Oscar (5/2), Strong Economy (9/2), Champagne Chaser (9/2), Running In Heels (7/1), Pot Committed (8/1), Where's Tiger (10/1)

Verdict

An interesting little event with two decent newcomers over fences in Strong Economy and Pot Committed although both look to have to make a little progress to beat those with chasing experience. COUSIN OSCAR was given a gentle introduction to fences last time out (behind Ami Debois) who has won again since and based on his hurdles form his mark doesn’t look onerous here. Mullaghmurphy Blue won in good style here on his penultimate start defeating Running In Heels and he should confirm that form having shown up well over hurdles last time out and looking to still have some improvement in him.
  1. Cousin Oscar
  2. Mullaghmurphy Blue
  3. Pot Committed
