Seems a long time since he won the Cheltenham Champion bumper beating the likes of Shaneshill and Black Hercules. Useful also on the Flat since then but took until his last run and his first for this yard to win over hurdles. Back in trip here and should be able to follow-up in a weak event.

Has been a fair performer on the Flat but should very little ability over hurdles on his first try in this sphere. Went without his usual headgear and does so again here having jumped none too fluently.
His two Flat wins came back-to-back at the start of 2016 but he been winless since then failing to take advantage of a falling and much reduced handicap mark. Now goes hurdling for the first time but can only be watched on debut.

There was some promise on his debut in his only bumper (needed the experience) but has shown very little over hurdles so far in three tries. Type to do better in handicaps further down the line.

Makes his hurdling debut having shown himself fair on the Flat when with Hughie Morrison winning twice on the AW. Took a handicap over 1m4f on his penultimate start off 69 and makes his hurdles debut here for a yard going well this season.
Finished well held in bumpers and hasn't really sparkled over hurdles yet and was tried over further last time. Needs this run for a handicap mark and may well find this too sharp.

Forecasts

Silver Concorde (1/10), Felix Mendelssohn (6/1), Pastoral Music (7/1), Kelpies Myth (12/1), Cheenys Venture (14/1), Avenue Of Stars (25/1), Auxiliary (33/1), Millie The Minx (33/1), Heather Burning (50/1), My Jamaican Guy (50/1)

Verdict

A fairly lopsided contest that should allow SILVER CONCORDE to gain his second hurdles victory despite the shorter trip. Cogent opposition is rather thin on the ground although Felix Mendelssohn is likely to step up on what he’s achieved so far while Don McCain saddles an interesting newcomer in Pastoral Music. Kelpies Myth is the only other one likely to take a hand although he will be seen to better advantage in handicaps.
  1. Silver Concorde
  2. Felix Mendelssohn
  3. Pastoral Music
