Showed enough to suggest that he could win in this sphere when taking second twice when trained in Ireland. Well fancied on his first run for this yard who do well with their recruits from other stables but fell at the second; still respected.
Sent off a 250/1 poke in Exeter novice hurdle (2m1f, soft) on jumps bow recently and never threatened to outrun those odds. Very hard to make case for again.
Promising second in a Carlisle bumper on debut in November 2015 but not seen since, betting likely to indicate expectancy levels on belated hurdles bow.
Bought during the summer for £14,500 after finishing third in a Rathcannon point-to-point. Stable don't have great record with hurdlers and ran no race at Hereford (2m3½f, good to firm) last month. Watching brief seems safest.
Runner-up in his only Irish point-to-point and cost £46,000 to bring to these shores, finished just over 8L third of 10 on hurdles bow over C&D (heavy) last month and should build on that.
The sole debutante under rules in the field, his price rose to £40,000 after winning an Irish point-to-point on his debut. He's a brother to the fairly useful hurdler Zanstra and is worth a glance in the market on his debut.
Comfortably beaten in both point-to-point starts last year and similar fate in a bumper here on heavy ground last month. Makes hurdles bow with apparently limited ambitions.
Bumper winner who has been placed on all four starts over hurdles, latest over 2m½f (good to soft) at Cheltenham last month when perhaps not enjoying the hill. Has run well here before over 2m.
Fairly modest effort in Southwell bumper 13 days ago for yard that does well in that sphere, switches to hurdles now with plenty improvement to find. Market will reveal more.
Has had his troubles but shown plenty potential, last seen finishing close second in C&D maiden hurdle in March on soft ground. Yard in decent form and champion jockey booked to steer. Noted.
Forecasts
Oxwich Bay (8/11), Savoy Court (3/1), Aaron Lad (9/2), Fiscal Space (11/1), Just Your Type (12/1), Carole's Vigilante (12/1), Rizzardo (33/1), May's Milan (66/1), Ballymagroarty Boy (100/1), Change Ur Tune (100/1)
Aaron Lad was well backed on debut for this stable 18 days ago but his bid didn't get beyond the second obstacles, he must get respect again, especially if the money arrives. OXWICH BAY has already placed four times from four starts over timber and, while he perhaps didn't enjoy the Cheltenham hill latest, he was also running into an unpenalised winner in taking second spot. This could be his turn. Savoy Court ran well in a C&D maiden in the spring and is also noteworthy on his return with Johnson booked. Fiscal Space and the long absent Carole's Vigilante should be monitored in the betting.
- Oxwich Bay
- Aaron Lad
