Caliptot34

5/2
Has been running in better races than this over fences and now drops to a grade where he is 2-2. Will be better for a confidence restorer last time and in here on a good mark for last year's winning stable.

De Dollar Man31
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  134
9/2
Won a couple of novice hurdles before running respectably in the Neptune at Cheltenham behind Willoughby Court. Won 3m point-to-point so a shade disappointing he was soon in trouble on chase debut. Hopefully the run was needed more than anticipated.

Earthmovesp,t27
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: S Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  132| D
12/1
Has shot up the weights following three wins during the summer. Handles easier conditions but may be better on faster tracks than this.
4

Flaming Charmert16
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: R M Power| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  128| CD
10/3
Scored off an 8lb lower mark at Chepstow where he made all to beat a modest bunch. That overestimates the merit of the performance, however his wellbeing is proven.

Chosen Well743
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-11| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King| OR:  120| BF| C
9/4
Fair staying hurdler who has been absent more than two years since shaping like a winner in waiting on his chasing debut. Likely to find this trip and a few of his rivals too sharp.

Forecasts

Chosen Well (9/4), Calipto (5/2), Flaming Charmer (10/3), De Dollar Man (9/2), Earthmoves (12/1)

Verdict

Flaming Charmer needs to produce a personal best to win this having rocketed up the weights for winning a mediocre race last time. It is unlikely he has improved that much and CALLIPTO is preferred. Venetia Williams took this last year and her seven-year-old has dropped to an attractive mark. He is a better horse when fresh and will be better for last month's return to action. His Cheltenham sixth in the Grand Annual is a good enough effort to make him hard to beat. De Dollar Man must be better than his last run suggests, but Earthmoves may find this contest too testing and Chosen Well will probably need the run.
  1. Calipto
  2. Flaming Charmer
  3. De Dollar Man
