Sent off odds-on favourite on sole point-to-point start. Has joined a top yard with an excellent record here and of obvious interest. The fitting of a hood suggests some immaturity and the market will be a good guide.

Some chase winners in the family but pedigree suggests he's one that will need a bit of time. That borne out by an unpromising debut in a Chepstow bumper.

Winner of a point-to-point last winter but well beaten on both hurdling starts when the ground has been softer. Stable's horses have been going well but it will take a lot more to see him land this.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: T J O'Brien| T: A E Jones

Irish point-to-point form nothing special and well beaten on hurdling debut for current yard. This looks above his capabilities.

Unlucky to lose his rider on penultimate start when in command at the last. Looked too keen on his return from six months off and he blew up two out. Should be fitter here and he sets a fair standard.

Beaten an aggregate of 117L in two bumper starts and hard to envisage he will improve enough on his hurdling bow.

Beat subsequent Aintree Grade 2 scorer Lalor on debut (but was later disqualified) and ran too keen when pitched in in that Aintree race next time out. Nice pedigree and should continue to progress this season, so looks one of the more likely ones.

Won a Warwick bumper (soft) on debut in March and stamina looked likely to be his forte that day. Got no further than the first two days ago when supported on hurdling debut and has possibilities of gaining compensation.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan
100/1
Has shown little in three and hard to see where the necessary improvement is coming from if he's to get involved here.
10

Well beaten at lengthy odds in two minor contests. Jumped poorly on hurdling debut and no surprise to see him lose his rider early next time.

Runner-up to a useful sort on bumper debut and shaped well again in a similar contest next time. Hit a flat spot at halfway that day before staying on and he is interesting on hurdling debut for an in form yard who took this in 2014.

Maiden point-to-pointer and tailed off on both hurdling starts. Impossible to fancy until showing a lot more.

Son of Martaline out of Grade One winner Shekira. Impressive winner of a point-to-point and solid second on bumper debut for this yard. Off the track since a disappointing effort in Ireland when running as though something may have been amiss.

Had future winners behind when showing a good turn of foot to score on her Irish point-to-point debut and bought for £28,000 soon after. Yet to reproduce that ability in two starts over hurdles and she looks the yard's second string.

Forecasts

Warthog (9/4), Run To Milan (7/2), Jaisalmer (9/2), The Russian Doyen (11/2), Shivermetimbers (13/2), Ataguiseamix (8/1), Timeforben (40/1), Broken Quest (40/1), The Brothers (80/1), Tanacando (100/1), Nuclear (100/1), Duhallow Lad (250/1), Waitinonasunnyday (250/1), Ballymagroarty Boy (250/1)

Verdict

Colin Tizzard has his horses going well and took the penultimate running of this in 2014. He is doubly represented with The Russian Doyen looking the stable's main hope. He is one of many interesting hurdling debutants in this and has a fitness advantage over many. His last run indicated he may need further than this and preference is for the Nicholls' newcomer ATAGUISEAMIX. The four-year-old was heavily backed on his point-to-point debut and has joined a yard whose novice hurdlers here have to be respected. Run To Milan looks a real chasing type yet proved good enough to cross the line in front on his bumper debut. He is clearly useful, whilst Warthog and Shivermetimbers are others to consider in an intriguing contest.
  1. Ataguiseamix
  2. The Russian Doyen
  3. Run To Milan
