Justified favouritism to land a Chepstow handicap hurdle in March over 2m on soft ground in this grade. Fell over fences on return from summer break and tailed off some way from home at Exeter back over hurdles last month. Questions to answer now.

Defied some poor jumping to score by 11L over C&D in October, rated 10lb higher now and didn't go so well next time at Fontwell over longer trip in a better race. Can't be dismissed back down in class but best effort needed.

Not disgraced in runs at Stratford (2m2½f, good to soft) and Sandown (2m4f, good to soft) this term. Back in trip and with in-form rider claiming 5lb in first-time tongue tie, he's one to keep a close eye on.

Went well for a long way in novice handicap hurdle at Cheltenham 20 days ago on return from more than 300 days off. Should be fitter for that effort and, while this is tougher, has scope to do better.

Has rediscovered his mojo of late, winning three of previous four starts after having gone 16 without a win. Only defeat in recent run came over C&D, has since won at Kempton in conditional contest and gets in here off same mark as a result.

Forecasts

Global Thrill (2/1), Capeland (9/4), Ivor's Queen (7/2), Coeur Blimey (6/1), The Gipper (8/1)

Verdict

A couple of these have potentially lurking underneath the surface but appears wisest to side with the one in form, namely, GLOBAL THRILL. Bernard Llewellyn's charge has been in super form, winning three of his previous four starts. It is a concern that is sole defeat was over this C&D but he bounced back to win a conditional contest at Kempton and goes unpenalised now with the champion jockey on his side. Coeur Blimey and Capeland rate as dangers while Ivor's Queen is also respected eased in class having won in this grade over C&D in October.
  1. Global Thrill
  2. Ivor's Queen
  3. Capeland
