Has won on heavy ground, though that success was the last he has recorded and came almost three years ago. Has often found one or two too good since, despite running well and fluffed his lines when dropped to this mark/grade last time. Bit to prove.
Handles deep ground and goes into this on the same mark as when recording his last win, around a year ago. Has a squeak on that basis and will find this easier than some tough assignments of late, so could come right back into the picture now.
Won a novices' hurdle at Bangor (2m7f, soft) this time last year but lost his way after one more good run. 16-1 and made several mistakes prior to falling on chase debut at Ffos Las last month, but on a competitive mark if he can put that right.
Relishes testing ground and won last season's Sussex National (3m4½f, soft) in cheekpieces from 6lb higher. Not in that sort of form in two recent runs, but now on a handy mark and dropped in grade, he could go well in change of headgear.
0-13 under rules, but placed on several occasions, including last time at Bangor (2m4½f, soft), when beaten 1¼L. Back up 3lb for that, but longer trip could help him bridge that gap and can't be ruled out from finally breaking his duck.
All three of his wins have been on soft/heavy ground and he went very close at Newcastle (2m7½f) from today's mark, when last seen in March. Stable in decent form, but it is a concern that he has yet to run well when fresh.
His last two successes have come on heavy ground, though you have to go back to February 2015 for the most recent one. On the slide for the past year and should be capable of going close from this mark, but not sure which Sharney Sike will turn up.
Was off the track for almost two years before being pulled up on comeback in March, but then scored on chase debut at Kelso when last seen in April. Trip/ground no problem and just 2lb higher today, but no surprise if he needs this.
Forecasts
Just Georgie (2/1), Morney Wing (7/2), Back To The Thatch (13/2), Sharney Sike (8/1), Whiskey Chaser (17/2), Purple Harry (9/1), Granville Island (14/1), West Wizard (14/1)
Just about all of these arrive out of form or with something to prove, so the market should be informative as to expectations. MORNEY WING is the suggestion, given that he has slid to a good mark, represents a stable going quite well, drops in grade and may be helped by a change of headgear. Just Georgie may be able to improve for this step up in trip, but he has gone up for another defeat and given his maiden status that is a bit offputting. Back To The Thatch needs to jump much better than on his debut. but if he can then he could be therebouts, while West Wizard is back on a winning mark and could go much better today.
- Morney Wing
- West Wizard
- Just Georgie
