€25,000 three-year old purchase by Scorpion, brother to 2m hurdle winner Copy That. Trainer exceptional in bumpers so this one very likely to be involved on debut.
£29,000 gelding by Montmartre but didn't live up to that price tag on debut at Newbury when in rear throughout. Significantly more needed although probably can improve.
Ran green and pulled hard in lone start to date back in May where he was tailed off at Fontwell. No encouragement taken from that.
Newcomer by Enrique is half-brother to three winners, two over jumps in France. Trainer has occasional bumper winner so market best guide to this one's homework.
Quite promising on debut in March where he finished third so 13th of 14 last month at Uttoxeter was very disappointing. Surely can do better but hard to make a case for him now.
Newcomer by Group Three winner Spendent who hasn't sired anything of note thus far. Dam modest form in bumpers and point-to-points and trainer has few winners in such contests so hard to expect much.
Newcomer by Multiplex is a brother to a 2m-2m4f hurdle winner. Trainer not really known for bumper winners so barring market support he looks an unlikely contender.
Sixth on debut at Chepstow last month where he was still challenging two out before fading to be beaten 11½L. That as good a form as any and should come on for it so looks a leading player.
Placed in a couple of point-to-points before pulling up as favourite in October. Trainer anything but prolific in bumpers and this one will likely need further.
Second in Southwell bumper in May before reappearance seventh of 14 in hotter race at Cheltenham. This likely nearer first race as far as rivals ability so could go well.
£34,000 purchase by Kayf Tara ran well enough despite greenness on debut when third of 6 at Ascot. Likely more to come and showed enough there to expect him to go very close today.
Newcomer by leading jumps sire Oscar is a half-brother to a horse placed in bumpers and over hurdles. Trainer won a bumper last week so market may help guide here. Wears a hood first time up.
Midfield on debut at Chepstow on debut last month where he briefly got into contention before fading. May need further in time but ought to come on for that run for top connections.
125/1 and only beat one home when tailed off in lone start back in February. Very unlikely to be involved.
Forecasts
Nocturnal Myth (5/2), Begbie (7/2), Seaston Spirit (5/1), Samson The Man (6/1), Snowy Oscar (9/1), Tigger Two (14/1), Don't Tell George (14/1), It's Fine Wine (16/1), Bigdeal (25/1), Hook Lane Roobee (28/1), Head Hunter (33/1), Hally's Kitchen (100/1), Robin De Broome (100/1), Cockney Seagull (100/1)
SEASTON SPIRIT ran well at Ascot and Oliver Sherwood's four-year old looked likely to come on for the run too so he may well be the one here. Also promising in his lone start was Nocturnal Myth and there is little between this pair based on their respective runs. Of the newcomers Begbie would appear the most interesting given his trainer's excellent record in bumpers.
- Seaston Spirit
- Nocturnal Myth
- Begbie
