Much-improved on second start for this yard when scoring here over 2m in first-time tongue tie (retained) recently. Raised 2lb and should stay competitive over this trip with champ booked again.

Didn't run badly over C&D in October upped to this trip for the first time, going down 12L in fourth of seven, could build on that run now.

Winner over 2m½f Stratford in April off this mark. Positives since have been light since and comes here on the back of poor show at Taunton. Visor on first-time and must bounce back to form (Entered 14:15 Leicester on Sunday).

the frame 13 times in 34 hurdles starts (just three wins), latest success in a selling handicap at Stratford (2m½f, good) in September and has run well in defeat in three subsequent starts including at Plumpton 14 day ago tackling this trip.

Five-time winner over hurdles and ran well enough to finish 6¾L third of six (set pace) in heavy-ground handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (2m4f) eight days ago. Races off a 1lb higher mark today and has won off much higher marks in the past.

Unplaced in ten starts (nine over hurdles) and three runs since joining this stable from Ireland have not brought about any dramatic change in fortune. Hard to fancy despite sliding mark.

Forecasts

Mullaghboy (1/1), Mamoo (3/1), Astrum (13/2), Lightentertainment (8/1), Elysian Prince (12/1), Clay Allison (16/1)

Verdict

Mullaghboy scored here last time and will be popular under the champion jockey but he's far from a certainty and is likely to be sent off at prohibitive odds, so it could be best to look for some value. MAMOO ran well enough tackling this trip for the first over C&D recently and will perhaps build on that now, with every chance that he can improve if taking a more prominent role in the early skirmishes. Lightentertainment is well capable off his current mark while Astrum has been running well recently without getting his head in front and should be involved when it matters again.
