Seems to go on any ground, though is particularly effective when conditions are as forecast. Scored over this trip last year and stays 3m5f. Open to further improvement and although yet to win when fresh, he has run well. Claims.
Was in the process of running a decent race from this mark when falling at Uttoxeter the last time we saw him. Showed his relish for testing ground when scoring at Ayr prior to that. Went well fresh last year, so possibilities.
Slid in the ratings last season, but returned to form on first start for this trainer when scoring by 15L at Fakenham last month. Back up 15lb now, but won off this mark in Ireland. Not ruled out but softer ground is a concern.
Won a couple of hurdles in the early part of 2016 and looked as though she had a future over fences last season, until losing her way. Has the ability to go well from this mark if tongue tie and a decent break has her back in better form.
Has been well placed to win five races in the past 15 months, the last two being at Southwell over fences in the summer. Beaten from this mark and 1lb higher in his last four races, so hood swapped for cheek pieces. Improvement needed.
Had just four starts last winter and lost his way a bit. Again failed to complete on his reappearance at Carlisle last month. Cheek pieces now fitted (was beaten in first-time blinkers three starts ago) and handles cut but has a bit to prove.
Better suited by faster conditions than he will encounter here. Stays 3m and was entitled to need his reappearance. Claims from this mark if he is as effective on this softer ground.
Has a 3m soft ground chase win to her name, although it arguably better when conditions are not quite as testing. Up 1lb since going close at Stratford when last seen in June but has won when fresh and has to be considered.
Forecasts
Enjoy Responsibly (9/4), Global Dream (7/2), Treaty Girl (6/1), Newtown Lad (6/1), Court King (8/1), Emerald Rose (10/1), Waldorf Salad (10/1), Bells Of Ailsworth (14/1)
A tricky contest for punters as a case can be made out for plenty of these. The suggestion is to side with NEWTOWN LAD, who ran well when fresh last year and whose wide margin win in testing ground at Ayr suggested that there would be more to come, prior to a fall last time. Global Dream is another potential improver, though he may be better for this reappearance, while Treaty Girl would be very interesting if we knew she was back in better form. Bells Of Ailsworth and Emerald Rose are others with claims.
