Has done well to win 6-17 chases from 2m-2m4f and goes on any ground. Won from 4lb lower in October, though has yet to score from a mark this high. Underlined his struggle to do so when 11½L fourth here (2m4½f) last month. More needed.

You have to go back to January 2015 to find his last success, though he has put in some decent efforts in defeat since then, hence the handicapper being slow to drop him. Beginning to plummet now after some poor recent form and looks one to watch.

Out together successive wins at Sedgefield (2m½f) and Kelso (2m5½f), both on good, in March, though looked held by the handicapper when last seen in May. Same mark today for his resumption, but not ruled out now yard in cracking form.

Goes well on soft/heavy ground and all four chase wins have been at around the minimum trip. Although he has not won from today's mark, he has gone very close from higher and is not badly treated. Recent pipe-opener a positive and could go well.

Has made the frame just twice from eight starts over fences and returns to chasing after being well beaten on the AW and over hurdles in his last two runs. Has dropped to a competitive mark, but he still has to prove that on the track.

Forecasts

Truckers Highway (2/1), Whitsundays (5/2), Uno Valoroso (10/3), Whispering Harry (6/1), Akula (8/1)

Verdict

A recent run over hurdles should have UNO VALAROSO ready for this and Mark Walford's gelding, who relishes testing ground, could take advantage of a mark that he is probably capable of winning from. Whitsundays represents the local yard of Donald McCain, whose runners are enjoying a good spell. He would not be a surprise winner now freshened up, though he does have it to prove from this mark. Truckers Highway looks next best, though he will need some improvement to win from today's mark.
  1. Uno Valoroso
  2. Whitsundays
  3. Truckers Highway
