Has now won 11-38 following a pillar to post victory at Newcastle last week. Handled most surfaces in France and Italy and, if taking to Fibresand, she looks more than capable of defying a penalty. Faces more competition for the lead this time.
Another who likes to force the pace and a recent winner over 1m on turf. Makes Fibresand debut but a preference for slower surfaces could see him improve on a modest AW record. Appears better over 1m but current mark is within his capabilities.
A record here of three wins, three seconds and two thirds from ten starts show he is to be respected. Down to a mark which should see him at his best, but new trainer needs to uncover the ability that has not been evident lately.
Last win came in 2015 when landing a £50k handicap at Ascot off a mark of 97. Signs of finding his current level here last time, 2¾L behind Muqarred, and now drops down to his optimum trip off a career low mark.
Record of 6-42 includes a Polytrack success at Lingfield. Suited to that type of track as he has also won four times at Brighton. Easy winner there in September and now just 3lb higher. Makes Fibresand debut, but he clearly handles slow surfaces.
Scored on sole start here but that was over 1m. Best form these days is at that trip and she is one of three front-runners in this. Has been runner-up five times this year and the odds appear stacked against her in this.
Recent form indicates how his track brings out the best in him and his form figures here now read 14221. Closely matched with Majestic Moon based on October's victory here over 1m, but that rival may be the better option at this shorter trip.
Has done most of his racing at Wolverhampton where he has won four times. His form on slower surfaces raise doubts as to his likely effectiveness around here.
Claimed for £8,000 after his last run. Has been placed twice here at 6f and he has form at this trip and off much higher marks than this. A wide draw is a concern, but good to see the claimer on board who partnered him to two successes this summer.
Scored here over 6f in February and defied a career high mark to get up close home at Kempton (7f) last time. New career high mark to over come as well as a tough draw.
Not won since a Listed success in April 2014. Best effort this season a close second of seven at Windsor three starts ago. Yet to prove he stays this far and two previous AW starts have been disappointing.
One of a few front-runners in this but more effective over further than this. Well beaten here over 1m4f two weeks ago on debut for new stable.
Has struggled on all four previous visits here and hard to fancy on current form. Last two victories have come off marks of 62 and 63.
Backed on his Fibresand debut when going down narrowly to a rival who got first run on him. That was over 6f but effective over this trip, however he is yet to win off a mark above 60.
Forecasts
Malaspina (3/1), Bold Spirit (11/2), Bounty Pursuit (6/1), Captain Bob (8/1), Black Caesar (10/1), Harlequin Striker (12/1), Stosur (12/1), Mr Christopher (14/1), Muqarred (14/1), Majestic Moon (16/1), Captain Revelation (16/1), Hernando Torres (20/1), Musical Comedy (20/1), Miningrocks (25/1)
Black Caesar is one of the few in this who specialises at this 7f trip. With plenty of pace in the race he should find it run to suit, however his effectiveness on this track has to be taken on trust. MAJESTIC MOON is another who is better at this specialist distance, but arrives having proven his effectiveness on the surface last time when fourth behind Muqarred over a mile. On today's terms the seven-year-old can reverse the form. Muqarred is a course specialist and is feared with the strong gallop likely to play to his strengths, a remark which also applies to Bounty Pursuit. Bold Spirit just failed to land a gamble here last time and should go close again. Malaspina won well on her GB debut and a 6lb penalty may not stop this prolific winning mare. However, as one of four potential front-runners, this may a race that lends itself to a strong finisher.
- Majestic Moon
- Bold Spirit
- Muqarred
