Has shown some modest form over fences overall with the best effort in this discipline coming at Uttoxeter in June off this same mark (97). Didn't really look as though he put it all in last time when pulled-up at Southwell and one to treat with caution.
Form over hurdles and fences can be described as modest at best and he's failed to complete on his last two chase starts. Not a particularly fluent jumper (unseated last time) and hardly the most solid proposition.
Had very much lost the plot when trained in Ireland but has looked a different proposition for his current yard winning on debut for them at Uttoxeter in July off 4lb lower. Has shaped well enough in two subsequent runs to think he still has something to offer.
Yard came off the cold list recently and this one is a course winner over further although that form is extremely weak (only beat two rivals). Two runs back from a break since that win have shown very little and he's one to be wary of.
Last win came over fences in early 2016 off an 8lb higher mark but the mark has fallen since then rather in line with his declining form. Showed very little of late and tough to recommend here even in this lowly affair.
Showed better form in his native France but can hardly be said to have matched that since running in GB. Now 19lb lower than his last win and that shows the measure of his decline and he was never going well over a longer trip last time.
Long standing maiden chaser (0/65) and despite this only being a poor contest he will do well to finally get off the mark over fences.
Forecasts
Classic Jewel (6/4), Belmont Park (9/2), Edward Elgar (9/2), Some Finish (7/1), Heurtevent (10/1), Albatros De Guye (10/1), The Society Man (20/1)
Very few solid options here and all of the runners have a question mark of some sort hanging over them in a race which makes very little betting appeal. CLASSIC JEWEL may be the best of the bunch given his recent exploits and is given a token vote. Edward Elgar isn’t the most reliable but is capable off this mark if he’s on a going day. Belmont Park is dropped in the handicap and that may enable him to show more if he can keep the partnership intact.
