Took a bit of getting going over fences but came good with a resounding 19L win at Aintree (3m1f, soft) last time. Handicapper has put him up 9lb in the ratings, though his penalty here is just 7lb and has claims of a follow-up success.
Won a point-to-point on debut and best effort in two novices' hurdles last season was also when fresh (2m6½f, good to soft), though woefully short of that when last seen precisely a year ago to the day. One to watch on chase debut.
Knows his way around here and is 2-6 at the track (one on soft) at up to 2m4f over hurdles. Made a decent chase debut over 2m4f at Carlisle last time. Step up in trip looks a good move and any improvement should make him tough to beat.
Goes well in testing conditions and underlined his stamina with a 3m½f hurdle win at Doncaster in February. Got the worst of a two-horse contest at Kempton on chase debut, but experience useful and not ruled out if cheek pieces work.
Forecasts
Captain Chaos (10/11), Secrete Stream (2/1), Three Ways (4/1), Lansdowne Road (150/1)
Captain Chaos looks likely to prove popular after a wide-margin win last time and there is no doubt that it looked impressive. However, he has two other decent sorts to give 7lb to now and SECRETE STREAM is fancied to improve both for his chasing introduction and step up in trip today and he gets the vote. Three Ways has a similar profile and is certainly not ruled out.
- Secrete Stream
- Captain Chaos
- Three Ways
