Dual hurdle winner but 0-5 over fences although he did run quite well at Fairyhouse last time. Appears to have a stiff task off top weight.
Won over 2m5f on chasing debut at Fairyhouse in January, but has not gone on from that. Looks to have something to find off current handicap mark
Showed stamina to be on long suit when winning over 3m at Sligo in September. Has struggled off this rating on two subsequent starts.
Without a victory in 14 starts over fences and not getting any younger. Well beaten on last two outings and has plenty to find off 2lb lower.
Off the mark over fences in a Cork hunter chase in April and has generally performed with credit since. May prefer a sounder surface to be seen to best effect.
Won his only point-to-point, but is still looking for his first success under Rules. Looked ready for this greater stamina test when a running-on third at Naas last time and can figure with leading jockey on board.
Fair record of two wins and two placings from eight starts over the bigger obstacles and ran well to be second last time after a break. Remains feasibly weighted and handles the forecast ground.
Veteran who had been off the track for well over two years when pulled up at Clonmel earlier this month. Hard to fancy after that display.
Winning hurdler who has failed to hit the frame in six runs over fences. Shaped a little better at Naas last time and needs to build on that display.
Won a 3m handicap chase at Fairyhouse in January, but struggled off higher marks once the handicapper reacted. Still looks a shade high in the weights.
Veteran who was pulled up at Clonmel on his last start almost a year ago. Races off 9lb lower, but needs to prove his problems are behind him.
Successful in a beginners' chase at Navan in March since when he has been out of sorts. Still early days for him, however, and may be sharper after a recent reappearance run at Naas where he was behind several of these rivals.
Had Fitzhenry, Tongie, Black Scorpion, Lisclogher Lad and Suas Sios behind when second at Naas last time. Runs off the same mark and is entitled to respect.
One of the more experienced chasers in the field, he was a decisive winner at Clonmel in March. Went up 10lb for that and struggled on his seasonal reappearance at Galway last month. Hampered that day and can do better.
Showed a good attitude to win a 2m4f handicap chase at Down Royal last December, but was pulled up on first race since then at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago. Has questions to answer.
Still looking for his first win after 14 starts and was beaten a long way on his chasing bow at Wexford last time. Hard to make a case for until showing more.
Had Larry Capri behind when third at Fairyhouse two starts ago. Not so good last time and needs to bounce back to form.
Forecasts
Flemenstorm (6/1), Little Haarth (15/2), Fitzhenry (8/1), Larry Capri (8/1), Black Scorpion (10/1), Tongie (10/1), Red River Gold (10/1), Flynsini (12/1), The Bay Birch (12/1), Clontarf (14/1), Routes Choice (14/1), Lisclogher Lad (14/1), Moonlone Lane (16/1), Highest Benefit (20/1), Ibetellingyoualie (20/1), Golanbrook (20/1), Suas Sios (25/1)
This promises to be a real slog through the mud and stamina will be at a premium. FITZHENRY was just behind Red River Gold at Naas last time, but stayed on well and this stiffer test could be just what he needs. Flynsini and Flemenstorm can get involved, too, while The Bay Birch has possibilities on his display a couple of outings ago.
- Fitzhenry
- Flemenstorm
- Red River Gold
