An 18-race maiden, but with a respectable level of C&D form (in maiden hurdles). 27L fourth of eight over 2m here recently having previously fallen at the first over C&D. In truth this type of contest isn't the ideal race for him.
Landed a point-to-point in Ireland and went made fair start over hurdles in similar event to this at Uttoxeter event this month, finish third of 14 having gone off at 20/1. Likely can offer more now.
Duke Of Marmalade gelding off the track since showing only average form in pair of bumpers this time last year. Entitled to need this on first start over timber, unless confidence is evident.
Showed promised in both bumpers outings and finished 5L second of 14 in Class 4 maiden hurdle at Chepstow (2m, soft) early this month on jumping bow. Longer trip should be fine and should be in the shake-up.
Disappointing in a pair of ordinary bumpers and highly tried on hurdling debut. Top yard going well, 10-34 lately, but will need to unlock considerable improvement on what he's shown thus far.
Fell on hurdles bow at Warwick in October but shaped much better next time at Exeter (2m5½f, soft), leaving suggestion this shorter trip may be in his favour. Respected.
Inexpensive purchase who suffered a wide-margin defeat on recent debut in a bumper at Southwell (2m, good). An unlikely winner now reverting to jumping.
14-race maiden on the Flat, he was overlooked on jumping bow at Plumpton (2m, soft) last month but hit the frame at odds of 200/1. Built on that to chase home odds-on winner at Sandown next time in this class and deserves consideration.
Forecasts
Silver Kayf (6/4), Clondaw Native (7/4), No Hiding Place (11/2), Mahlermade (6/1), Trust The Man (18/1), Burning Heat (40/1), Dig A Bit Deeper (66/1), Soul Man (125/1)
MAHLERMADE made a decent start over timber at Chepstow to be second behind an easy winner and, with this longer trip set to be in his favour, Alan King's charge boasts fairly sound credentials in this opener. No Hiding Place is respected on account of his connections, and any money would be duly noted, but he has work to do on the formbook. Trust The Man has been overlooked, essentially, in both hurdling starts but made the frame in both. His latest second at Sandown is worthy of respect and he should go well. Clondaw Native is a potential improver in the mix.
- Mahlermade
