As I See It23
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: N P Madden| T: H Fry| BF
14/1
Won one of his two point-to-points and was sent off favourite when finishing fifth of 16 on his debut for this trainer in a bumper at Chepstow. Likely to be seen in a better light now that he is hurdling.
Only hints of promise in four bumpers and two hurdles. Still early days, but looks as though he may fare better when switched to handicaps.

Call Me Sid264
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: N de Boinville| T: J Mason
50/1
Second in his only-point-to-point, he finished sixth of nine on his only start in a Newbury bumper on debut for this trainer. Makes his hurdles bow and better can be expected.

Canelo23
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: Wayne Hutchinson| T: A King
7/4
Only outing for this stable saw him perform well to be second of 16 in a Chepstow maiden hurdle. Promising and looks a leading contender.
5

4/1
Winner of his only point-to-point, he was behind Canelo when fourth on his hurdling bow and debut for current trainer. Likely to do better and a tongue tie is fitted for the first time.

Court Affairs232
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: J E Moore| T: J W Mullins
12/1
Court Cave gelding who did not go unbacked when winning a Carlisle bumper in April. Makes his hurdling debut, clearly has ability and is one to note in the betting market.
7

100/1
Raced prominently for a long way on debut in a Warwick bumper, but was miles behind Canelo and Captain Cattistock on hurdling bow at Chepstow. Plenty to find on that display.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: James Best| T: N P Mulholland
150/1
Won a maiden point-to-point in April, last year, but has not been seen since. First run for this trainer and likely to need the outing after so long on the sidelines.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-12| J: T Scudamore| T: C L Tizzard| BF
15/8
Would probably have won his only point-to-point had he not fallen and confirmed he had ability when second on his hurdling bow at Worcester last month, Leading stable strong in this department so he is afforded plenty of respect.
Learning his trade in three bumpers last season, but was not disgraced. Should do much better now switched to hurdling for leading connections.

250/1
Maiden point-to-pointer who was tailed off on his hurdling debut at Chepstow. Impossible to fancy until showing much more.

Forecasts

Canelo (7/4), Storm Home (15/8), Captain Cattistock (4/1), Court Affairs (12/1), As I See It (14/1), Vodka All The Way (14/1), Call Me Sid (50/1), Balibour (80/1), Ifandabut (100/1), Iskrabob (150/1), Waitinonasunnyday (250/1)

Verdict

Quite a bit of guesswork involved given the main protagonists are so lightly raced. Captain Cattistock, Storm Home and CANELO boast the best form over hurdles and preference is for the latter after his debut second at Chepstow. As I See It, Vodka All The Way and, in particular, Court Affairs, are hurdling newcomers worth noting in the betting.
  1. Canelo
  2. Storm Home
  3. Court Affairs
