Four-time flat winner wasn't disgraced in the Cambridgeshire before last on softer ground in November handicap. Only 1lb higher now than last winning mark and this not nearly as tough as recent tasks so better expected.
Just the one race since May 2016, a last at Chelmsford. Not won since 2014 yet remains 8lb higher than that mark and hard to fancy after yet another layoff.
All of his eight career starts come on AW and won three of them. Progressive last term and bounced back in second start of season when second of 14 here over 1m2f. Step back to 1m4f fine and 3lb ease very generous so big chance.
Two from two on AW including one here and last time out at Wolverhampton. 5lb higher today but won well latest with first time blinkers and they remain on so every chance he goes close again.
One of the best bred horses in training but took seven starts to get off the mark for Aidan O'Brien. That was his last start but his first on AW at Dundalk. Equally happy over 1m4f but opening handicap mark looks high enough.
Won twice at Ripon in the spring but lost his way since and particularly average in three races since a break. Three previous AW runs all below par so enough question marks to leave him out of calculations.
Unsuccessful in eight races this season but trainer's runners here always worth a second look. Rarely far away and consistency probably his downfall from handicap perspective. Will go well again but others look better treated.
Forecasts
Master Singer (5/4), Burcan (3/1), Sir Chauvelin (4/1), Rainbow Rebel (11/2), Diodorus (16/1), Pearl Castle (50/1), Gurkha Friend (50/1)
Lightly raced five-year old BURCAN gets the vote here after a good run last time out here over 1m2f. That was his second start after a layoff so he should be spot on now fitness wise and the extra 2f here will help further as will an ease in his handicap. Chief among his rivals is Master Singer for the all-conquering John Gosden team. This three-year old entire is two from two on AW. Best of the rest may be Rainbow Rebel who doesn't know how to run a bad race.
