Dual winner on the Flat at around 1m4f in the summer and preceded that with a maiden hurdle win at Huntingdon in April. Yet to prove himself over trips beyond 2m, but has the ability to go close if he can return to his best.
Dual novices' hurdle winner at Leicester a couple of seasons ago and was runner-up in a Ludlow novices' chase in February. Either side of that, however he has been below par. On a good mark if he can produce his best, but does have a bit to prove.
Super servant to connections and still looks as good as he ever has judged on a recent win at Sedgefield and second at Kelso. Can throw in the odd poor effort, as he did last time, but you couldn't write him off despite his highest mark since 2012.
Goes into this 11lb higher than when scoring over 2m at Worcester (good to soft) in September and he has put in two decent efforts from similar marks to today since. Sees out 1m3f on the Flat, so could find improvement now stepped up in trip here.
Has made a bit of improvement with each of her three runs so far and broke her duck in a Hereford mares' novices hurdle (2m5½f, heavy) when last seen in January. Looks to have got in on a workable mark for handicap debut and has claims.
Well held in all three starts since going handicapping, that coming after a Lingfield maiden hurdle win in January. Comeback run hinted that he may be able to improve on those efforts this time around, so could be more competitive today.
Best effort so far was when taking a Hexham novices' contest (2m4f, soft) for Mark Walford in 2014. Unable to match that since, including in a string of point-to-point defeats and probably one to watch on stable debut/first run for 18 months.
All four career wins have been at around 2m4f, three of them on soft ground. Now 16lb lower than when scoring over fences at Ludlow in March 2016 but his light has looked to be dimming since, including for this yard.
Forecasts
Groundunderrepair (5/2), Lady Karina (3/1), Inn The Bull (10/3), Daveron (11/2), Hit The Highway (8/1), Danceintothelight (14/1), Red Tortue (50/1), Shining Romeo (66/1)
Groundunderrepair is not beyond improvement and his return run suggested that he could find a bit more this term, though preference today is for INN THE BULL. He is already making progress and this extra 3f can help him eek out some more, which may well be good enough to win again. Lady Karina is one to check out in the market because her mark looks very fair going into this, while cases can also be made for both Shining Romeo and Hit The Highway if they can return to their best.
- Inn The Bull
- Lady Karina
- Groundunderrepair
