A winner over further at Taunton earlier in the year off a 6lb lower mark he's generally been consistent at this level. Shaped well after a break last time out at Wincanton and should have come on for that run and could take a hand here.
Two handicap hurdles came his way in the middle of last year both of the same mark of 102 and over 2m. Showed more on his reappearance last time out at Worcester but appeared stretched by the grade and the trip and would be better back at 2m.
Ran a very poor race last time out looking as though the headgear (refitted today) was needed (went in snatches). Won twice earlier in the year although both this year's wins came over further and he may find himself tapped for speed around here.
Showed very little progression in his novice hurdles and looks to have been handed a tough mark in handicaps initially. Failed to find any required progress on his handicap debut over C&D recently and may require a drop in the weights.
Made relatively hard work of winning a novice hurdle earlier in the year that looked to be an easy opportunity (went in snatches; jumped poorly). Showed slightly better form in handicaps subsequently but comes into this off two poor Flat runs.
Hadn't been with his current yard long before he struck at Uttoxeter albeit in a lower grade than this taking advantage of a falling mark. Followed that up with arguably a better performance at Carlisle where he wasn't suited by the run of the race; chance if temperament holds together.
Showed a little bit of ability in his only Flat start and got off the mark over hurdles dropped to a seller last time out at Stratford (didn't settle well). This will prove tougher into a handicap for the first time with the trip having looked to stretch him before.
A bumper winner here on his second start his form over hurdles hasn't really progressed and he was a real disappointment on his debut in a handicap last time. May well have needed that run after 11 months off but a leap of faith required to support him here.
One of the winners that set this yard on their early roll when he took a handicap at Worcester (well backed) in September over 2m4f. The handicapper then appeared to wrest back control with a 9lb rise a mark he's been beaten of the last twice and tries again off here.
Bumper form was nothing to write home about but has shown a bit more over hurdles and showed something more like his debut hurdling form last time out. Now goes handicapping for the first time and more expected in this sphere.
Over two year's now since she's won and although she's now slipped below that last winning mark her form has been rather patchy since. Looked on a couple of occasions to be coming back to form this year but disappointed last time although the 2m trip may not have suited.
Returns to hurdles after his jumping got worse and worse over fences having only won once over hurdles previously. Did start life in handicaps in this sphere off 127 so he's off a lowly mark here but with questions to answer on his latest form.
Has a long absence to overcome but when he was last seen he did show some ability over hurdles despite often failing to settle and finishing weakly after travelling well. Obviously had some problems but now returns off a career low mark.
Showed his best form when winning at Wetherby in March over 2m winning readily off a mark of 99. Given a break after that and may well have needed his comeback run last time out a Musselburgh where the ground may also have been a bit quick for him.
Forecasts
Scooby (5/1), Tunnel Creek (6/1), Royal Beekeeper (7/1), Whin Park (7/1), Towering (17/2), Sutter's Mill (10/1), Suggestion (11/1), Hoke Colburn (12/1), Chilly Miss (16/1), Courtlands Prince (16/1), Seven Kingdoms (20/1), Midnight Merlot (20/1), Walsingham Grange (33/1), Thecorruptor (80/1)
Not an easy race to work out with a few of these looking as though they would be better over shorter one who shaped well last time and has won over further is SCOOBY who is more consistent than most of these and from a yard going well at the moment may defy top weight in this. Towering is capable of entering the mix if his temperament holds together and he can repeat his last couple of runs. Suggestion is another who is sure to strip fitter this time and can’t be ruled out along with Courtlands Prince although this trip did look to stretch him before as it did Stratford selling hurdle winner Royal Beekeeper although given his connections he must be respected.
- Scooby
- Towering
- Suggestion
