Fairly reliable sort in this grade who may well be coming back to some sort of form last time out when well supported at Musselburgh before finishing third. A repeat of that run would see him go close here and the jockey booking is eye-catching.
A break and a switch to fences looked to be the catalyst for the debut win over fences having shown very little in bumpers or over hurdles. Up 6lb here and should be able to go well again although the suspicion remains that may not be able to back that up (had an easy time on the lead).
Upped in trip to get off the mark over fences at Plumpton in March in a race that took little winning off a 5lb lower mark. Did manage to back that run up though with a second (beaten by one who had fallen in the weight) and worth noting in the market on his reappearance.
Finally tasted success on her first run for this yard at Towcester in May beating two rivals in a very weak handicap. Hardly a surprise that she hasn't been able to win since and has forced an overly strong pace on more than one occasion.
Gained a reward for some consistent summer jumping form when winning at Newton Abbot in June. Has failed to follow-up that form in two starts since looking to be in poor form and would need to bounce back here.
Well backed at Taunton back in March but proved to be a disappointment and has failed to show anything since and was particularly disappointing last time. Looks one to take care with at all levels.
His last win came here over further two years ago off a 1lb lower mark and he's rarely shown that sort of form since despite often travelling well in his races. His weak finish remains a problem though and we may see more of the same here.
Tried in various headgear in his last few runs and now had a tongue-tie added to a visor. He failed to complete last time with his jumping a negative and he holds only a minor chance here.
A record of 0/21 over fences hardly inspires and he's looked out of depth on more than one occasion of late and the same looks on the cards here.
Forecasts
Chestnut Ben (7/2), Fair Frank (7/2), Mr Jim (9/2), Larkhall (5/1), Rakaia Rosa (13/2), Rhythm Of Sound (8/1), No No Cardinal (14/1), Passing Fiesta (40/1), Sussex Road (100/1)
Fair Frank showed much improved form when winning last time out at Southwell but he did get a rather easy lead and the win did come out of the blue; he has to prove that he can follow-up that win here. Larkhall will more than likely run his usual race and flatter to deceive while Mr Jim should be watched in the market on his return to action after showing some decent enough form in the spring. The booking of James Bowen for CHESTNUT BEN is particularly eye-catching and he’s won off higher marks than this in the past a repeat of his run at Musselburgh last time will see him go close here.
- Chestnut Ben
- Fair Frank
- Mr Jim
