Winner of two novice hurdles back in 2015 on good ground and followed up those wins with some good efforts in handicaps. Back from an absence last time (well supported) but not left well placed when pace quickened and could well be capable of better.
Off the mark straight away for this yard at Ayr last December and looked a much fitter for his reappearance when taking a crashing fall at Lingfield recently. Raced quite freely there and needs to settle better but would have a chance if the fall hasn't left its mark.
Not seen since making a winning debut for this yard last May in a novice hurdle following up a win in Ireland for his former yard. Made all jumped well on his last outing and should be fit enough on his reappearance/handicap debut to take a hand in this.
Ran well in juvenile hurdles last season and whilst he confirmed his winning form he didn't really improve on it. Had a spin on the Flat to get him ready for his hurdles return but failed to improve and his mark looks a testing one.
A maiden on the Flat and over hurdles when trained in France showed more on his debut run for this yard (unraced for Nicky Henderson in GB) than he did next time up on his handicap debut. May have found that coming too soon and worthy of respect from this stable.
Showed some improved form on the Flat over the summer months in GB/Ireland in fairly modest handicap company winning three times. That appeared to carry over to his hurdles form and he was running well in better company last time when unseating three out.
Put an end to a long losing run at Ffos Las in June capitalising on a falling mark. Form since then has been rather patchy though including when running poorly on the Flat last time and others present a more persuasive argument.
No doubt that he improved on his hurdles debut when striking at Sandown in a juvenile hurdle (ran up to his best Flat form) in early 2016. Off after that until the end of the same year when pulled-up on handicap debut and another absence to overcome now.
Looked versatile earlier in the year when scoring back-to-back wins over hurdles and fences the second win coming off today's mark. May have needed the run on his comeback over fences and now reverts to hurdling and not totally out of this.
Forecasts
High Expectations (9/4), Capitoul (5/1), Pokora Du Lys (15/2), Quids In (8/1), Delface (8/1), Prussian Eagle (9/1), General Ginger (10/1), Sneaking Budge (11/1), Today Please (25/1)
Several interesting sorts in this led by the Gordon Elliott trained High Expectations who was running well in a better grade than this last time out before unseating and he’s sure to run a decent race. DELFACE comes from the Pipe stable that are showing much more of late and the fact that the cheekpieces go on for the first time on handicap debut suggest that they mean business here. General Ginger shaped with promise last time out and isn’t out of this while Pokora Du Lys and Capitoul could also make their mark although the latter did have rather a heavy fall last time which may have left it’s impression.
- Delface
- High Expectations
- General Ginger
