Form on the Flat is modest at best and arrives here on the back of an indifferent effort over hurdles at Huntingdon last month. Not hard to overlook on these terms.
Still a maiden after 12 starts but put in a solid stint to finish second at Wolverhampton last time out. Decent claims if going on from there but up again in trip and has a bit to prove.
Still unexposed in handicaps despite having a good bit of experience, so feasible he has scope from his current mark. Improvement required and yet to race at this course before now, so still a good bit to prove.
Landed a brace at kempton back in March and now back on a very handy mark after several moderate efforts. Not one to trust implicitly but has stamina in abundance and could pick up the pieces if some of the others fade if they go a good clip.
yet to get his head in front under either code but latest effort gave cause to think he could nick a place in the frame if on song. Needs everything to go his way, though.
0-33 on the Flat but no back number in a weak race such as this. Has been placed over C&D in the past, so not without hope if he can turn back the clock. Could be good value for an each-way option.
Eye-catching effort latest a bit of a bolt from the blue but he was in no mood to take prisoners at Kempton and will be a force to be reckoned with if similarly determined here. 6lb extra may not be enough to peg him back with confidence on a high.
Over two years since his last win and the veteran seems to be waning a little these days. Usual blinkers or headgear dispensed with for the first time since October 2013 has to also be a cause for concern.
Unexposed but form so far only ordinary and has a bit to prove now upped in trip. best watched.
Lightly raced maiden who posted one of his better efforts last time out. Needs to take a further step forward and possible the new trip will help. Worth a betting check but risks attached.
Been off since May but goes well here and positive that he's been placed over C&D twice. Form had taken a nosedive when last seen out though, which leaves him with a good bit to prove now.
Best effort so far when upped in trip last time and open to a good bit of improvement. Needs to up her game once more and the visor needs to inspire the same effect not without hope of reaching the frame.
Good effort on latest start for his present yard and eye-catching jockey booking boosts the interest. Has scope to improve and is one to monitor carefully in the betting.
Just failed in a dogged battle at Kempton last week but that was a highly encouraging effort, so noteworthy he's back out so quickly. needs to prove it wasn't just a one-off performance though.
Forecasts
Volturnus (4/1), Briac (9/2), Iley Boy (5/1), Babette (7/1), Moon Arrow (7/1), Dibloam (8/1), Kaisan (10/1), Oyster Card (16/1), The Last Melon (16/1), Galuppi (16/1), Netley Abbey (16/1), Rezwaan (33/1), Tayaar (33/1), Koubba (50/1)
The front-running antics of VOLTURNUS proved irresistible at Kempton last week and the three-year-old presents a very tempting proposition in his attempt to follow up under the mandatory penalty. IIey Boy and Galuppi are others that can make sure the selection is pursued all the way and do their bit to make this a good test.
- Volturnus
- Iley Boy
- Galuppi
