Off the mark at the second attempt in a Bellewstown maiden hurdle in July (2m+ good), and was a nearest at the finish third on his next start at Galway (2m4f) in October (beaten 3½L by Just Janice).

Never out of the first two places in five starts under rules, this £100,000 purchase made a winning hurdles debut at Galway in August (2m+ good), but has been a beaten favourite on both subsequent starts (latest over 3m).

4/5
Clonmel bumper winner in February who made a winning hurdles debut and seasonal reappearance at Downpatrick in mid October (2m6f+). Likely to race prominently to counteract this slight drop in trip, but sets a reasonable standard.

Downed Poli Roi on his third hurdles start at Galway in early October (2m3f maiden), but well beaten in a stronger contest latest, and plenty to do with Aeglos judged solely on that effort.

Forecasts

Monkshood (4/5), Minella Beau (2/1), Aeglos (5/1), The Rory Story (12/1), Montauk Flyer (50/1)

Verdict

A small field, but a tight and tricky contest to solve. Minella Beau hasn't been at his sharpest since winning at Galway, but this trip could prove the answer. Aeglos proved his stamina latest when set plenty to do by Barry Geraghty, but the selection is MONKSHOOD. He looks certain to race prominently as was the case when making a winning hurdles debut at Downpatrick last month, and he could feasibly make those tactics (and his stamina) pay assuming Jack Kennedy sets the pace margins accurately.
  1. Monkshood
  2. Minella Beau
  3. Aeglos
